Hotel Tiefenbrunner

We have been to Tiefenbrunner many times over the last 20 years and will continue to do so. Everything was as it should be. Rooms were excellent (I think they have been refurbished). The style is wood and a natural feel, they are all spacious. The dining room service and food was excellent. Breakfast was a wide range of choice something for everyone and more ! Staff were familiar faces, several going back even decades. The garden at the back of the hotel is a peaceful haven good to read books or relax in between trips further afield. And of course Tiefenbrunner hotel has a fantastic location in town and an amazing decorative exterior which is an important part of Kitzbuhels charm. I can’t praise Tiefenbrunner enough. I’m coming back.

For the years of travelling I’ve never had anything stolen in any hotel room in any country. Usually I don’t leave valuable staff in the room but unfortunately I forgot my Rolex watch on the night stand and it’s stolen!!! There was no other person entering the room other than the housekeeper. I think that a hotel would not be employing people that have any suspicion of doing that kind of thing. But it was very disappointing to see the same person working in that hotel just after the day submitting the theft report to the police!!!

My family and I returned to the Tiefenbrunner 1810 for the third time, the last time being in 2004 and 2019. The hotel had undergone a major transformation in terms of reception. The vast majority of staff have also changed especially in the diningroom and reception. The standard overall has dropped and the old worldliness that we loved about the hotel and which set it apart from others is gone. When we were there previously, there were lots of families and a lovely tradition of taking photos of families or children for the front of their daily newsletter. These photos are now replaced by staff photos. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and service efficient. The hotel is clean and very interesting items scattered around it. It also offers good quality bikes complimentary. The pool is very nice but cold. The garden is lovely and a haven of tranquility with a water feature and variety of seating areas. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and very few fans available. We booked two suites and requested a quiet room but were allocated the attic suites and our suite had several fans directly outside our balcony operating constantly. Dinner was strictly between 6pm to 8pm sharp and we felt it was very much a conveyor belt affair which did not favour guests having time allowed between courses. The standard of the food had deteriorated evidenced by a turkey thai curry on the menu. Alot of the original austrian fare is now absent from the menu. We found reception staff to be less friendly and informative and were not inviting in terms of bringing issues to their attention or engaging with staff. Whilst there was a porter on duty on the day of our departure, there was no assistance with luggage being brought either to rooms or the transfer bus which is down a steep hill at the rear of the hotel. We also encountered an issue whereby we, along with our young son, missed the last gondolla from the Hannerkalm at 5pm. We immediately contacting Andrea on reception requesting a taxi to be sent (given there is a good road from the summit to the centre of Kitzbuhel) but she informed us this was not possible and we would just have to walk down. Despite being informed of serious health issues on check-in, no assistance whatsoever was provided by the hotel and our phone calls thereafter were not answered or messages returned. We had no choice but to complete the 15km descent from the mountain in very uneven steep conditions, in 25 degrees, with no water, which took 3 hours. When confronted, Laurent and Andrea both confirmed that they could not send a taxi as they did not know where we were. We will not be returning to this hotel given they did not have any regard for us as their guests, to send assistance to us and in lieu left us stranded on a mountain to own devices. This is no way to treat guests.

This was our second stay at the Tieffenbrunner (the first being in 2018). Booked a Junior Suite which faced the very charming High Street - superb views though a little noisy on hot summer evenings but it did die down after 11.30pm. Perhaps we will ask for a room at the back of the hotel in future (I’m sure we will return!) Super room and bathroom- exceptionally clean with everything required. Lovely comfy bed and nice suite. Coffee and tea all to hand - in fact, we asked if there was a kettle and it was with us within 10mins! TV programmes very limited which might be difficult if you get a wet week (no English programmes at all and no Netflix etc to log into). Food - really lovely. Breakfast extremely well catered for, dinner - 5 courses every evening - only once did we have a main course which didn’t ‘wow’. Very nice bar area at the front of the hotel which serves decisions snacks throughout the day. Gym and swimming areas very nice and we took advantage of the pretty garden on hot days. All staff at the hotel are extremely pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed this stay and had a lovely week in Kitzbuhel. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough

The staff were friendly but no assistance with luggage to the rooms. They are advertised as a spa hotel but the indoor pool was cool and not warm which one needs in winter. The temperature of the shower was just above warm and not corrected after saying they would call a technician. Breakfast was not great. Nice location on the old town but a pity that the facilities were not great

After 2 years of cancelled holidays, we finally made it back to Kitzbuhel for a summer trip. Although we had been twice before to Kitzbuhel, this was the first time in this hotel. The hotel is very well maintained, the staff are all friendly and helpful and it is well located for getting about. The room was spacious and kept spotless and the food in the half board restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Over our stay of two weeks, every meal was delicious and the restaurant staff were polite and did an excellent job. The only minor downside was that our room partly faced the main street and without air conditioning, we needed the windows open overnight. Unfortunately almost every night there were groups leaving clubs that were shouting loudly, sometimes as late as 3.30am. This clearly isn't the fault of the hotel however when we return, we will ask for a room on the other side of the building. This is probably only an issue for the hotter months of the year but we did have disturbed sleep most nights. Notwithstanding the above, the hotel was excellent overall. We made good use of the pool/spa and we would have no hesitation in returning. Others clearly feel the same as many of the UK guests had indeed been there before and knew the staff! Bottom line: A lovely hotel, definitely worth a visit!
