The Blue Haven Hotel

We were met by an unfriendly waiter but soon asserted that we need a better table. This was provided. The table was sticky. The first waiter said it was the cleaning product. She came with a cloth and afterwards it was as before. The restaurant wasn’t clean despite it being 12.30 and very few customers. When we saw the prices on the menu it was apparent. No lunch specials. Main courses were 25 euros. While we waited for our meal we had a member of staff say she was not coming in to work on Tuesday as there was no way that the staffing was adequate. Tense!! Food was good!

Christmas Eve 2024, myself, my daughter and our guidedog in training visited. On arrival we were asked if we had a booking, we didn’t but the restaurant manager said she had a table. We were given the breakfast menu and ordered for tea and coffee, asked if we were ready to order breakfast, we said we were waiting for another person. They had no issue with this. Tea / coffee was served. Restaurant manager “suddenly”appeared and said she needed the table back in 30mins. We were given 35mins in total to order and finish. So in all probably 10mins to actually eat by the time the breakfast was served. If you are that busy, it would probably be best not to seat people that “weren’t” booked.

More like 2 star B & B… charging top rate hotel prices. Room shabby, old and run down. On way to room had to step over bags of dirty linen. Badly in need of an upgrade. Overpriced for what you get. Won’t be staying there again. Far nicer places to stay in Kinsale for similar price.

THE BAD: Bathroom floor was several centimeters / inches above the main room floor; this was a serious tripping hazard which could seriously injure somebody. There was no hair conditioner in the room. The mattress had a worn-out depression along the side where everyone sits at the edge of the bed. This was okay while I slept on my back, but I had to move to the center of the bed when laying on my stomach or side to avoid back pain. One of my traveling companions had a similar issue with their bed. I had a Nespresso coffee maker with three different flavor pods in my room, but I could never get the darn thing to work! NO INSTRUCTIONS WERE PROVIDED. Even after watching a YouTube video, I still could not get it to function. I think the filter needed cleaning; all three coffee cup lights were blinking red, even after selecting the size I wanted and hearing the machine make a buzzing noise. THE GOOD: Room was clean with classical decor and furniture. Full Irish Breakfast was huge! It is right in the middle of town!

Stayed here on 5th Nov. From reservation to check out, it was a delight. Decor, style, facilities and food were excellent.The staff were so friendly, courteous and helpful especially Sabina Healy, the General Manager, who made our stay so special. Can't wait to go back

I went to the coffee shop and I walked in the door and greated the 2 women one in front of the counter the other behind, the person in front didn't answer me and the other said hello ( I was the only customer there) I asked for a flat white extra hot costing 3.70 euro. It was neither flat nor hot . More foam that I ended up with a half cup and not hot enough by far. Really disappointed with the service. I must say the coffee shop is very inviting and clean . Maybe more training would really up their game . Would I recommend I wouldn't on this experience but I will give it another go and see if improvements can be noted
