In the summer, my husband and I travelled to Prince Edward Island for the first time. It was my turn to choose the place we would stay for vacation and I came across 49 steps. This place is everything that the reviews say. It is truly the loveliest and most serene place I have ever stayed in my life. Thomas and Barbara were so gracious and welcoming. It’s a place I would love to come back to again and again. The room is spacious and so tastefully decorated. The main part of the house were breakfast is served is welcoming and warm. The library so cozy. Sitting by the window in the morning, sipping on coffee and eating scones, watching hummingbirds is an experience I will never forget. The food here is absolutely the best. The Beach as the name says is 49 steps. 49 steps to a beautiful stretch of red sand and hours of Seaglass hunting. If you are looking for a memorable place to stay in Prince Edward Island, this is the place. Thank you once again for the stay of a lifetime.

At the time of writing, there were 57 reviews: all 5/5 excellent. Here's another one! I won't repeat the many favourable comments made already, but will add that the hosts have managed to create a rare combination of stylish atmosphere, cosy home comfort, personal approachability and professionalism. We had a problem shortly after departure (nothing to do with the property I hasten to add). We asked for their help and and they went above and beyond to help us out

This beautiful property, situated on the North Shore of PEI, remains one of our favourite places in the Maritimes to relax and enjoy unparalleled beauty. This was our second visit and we look forward to returning again and again. The sea view rooms are comfortable and beautifully appointed. The breakfast of homemade pastries and jams, muesli and more is delicious. The Hosts Barbara and Thomas couldn’t be more hospitable. Their exquisite taste and attention to detail in every little thing makes for a special experience.

If you enjoy peace and tranquility, fabulous views all around, and impeccable lodging, include 45 Steps on your itinerary. Everything about this property will soothe your mind and spirit, and Barbara and Thomas will look after you as if you are long time personal friends, they are charming hosts. We cannot wait to book another stay.

Barbara is a sweetheart and the entire place was so thoughtfully renovated for optimal guest experience. The home, the food, the grounds. Perfection! Definitely an experience worth spoiling yourself with. They are also very pet friendly which is hard to find these days, especially in such a beautiful place

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the 45 Steps and it was the perfect place! Barbara and Thomas are incredible hosts, and the inn is beautiful and well thought out. It is peaceful, with a gorgeous view and fantastic food. We cannot wait to return.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The innkeepers (Barbara and Thomas) have a great story to tell about their purchase of the house, etc. The breakfasts were an excellent spread - Claire was a daily delight. My wife loved the hotel mascot pugs! She played with them each day. The only downer was the one dinner we had at the Inn - the poached salmon was tasteless and the rest of the meal was just okay. Still, we will definitely stay there again for our next PEI visit.

Of all the places in PEI we visited, we enjoyed our moments at 45 Steps the most: the private beach, the delicious food, the well-appointed rooms and the breathtaking views. Barbara and Thomas host with warmth and professionalism. The dinners were all excellent, each one skillfully prepared with fresh local ingredients. We absolutely loved staying at 45 Steps: it was just what we wanted, and we can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at 45 Steps for a very special “one-ymoon” trip to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Our room, Executive Suite 1, was the definition of luxury: an ocean view from bed, a private balcony, ample storage, and European design flair. Barbara and Thomas provide such a gorgeous and welcoming atmosphere in the common spaces as well, especially during the exquisite meals! We had the pleasure of enjoying Barbara’s abundant paella for dinner and daily trips to the gorgeous breakfast spread of homemade breads, jams, and much more! There we met many other celebrating couples: honeymooners, other couples celebrating milestone anniversaries, and there was even an engagement on the beach! It was fun to hear about must-see places from other travelers and learn about the island from our knowledgeable hosts. Armed with fantastic suggestions, my husband and I adventured all around PEI each day and felt so at peace knowing we would return to such a cozy place to stay. 5/5 stars!
