Forest & Lake PEI Bed & Breakfast

My family and I had the displeasure of staying at the Forest & Lake cabins in Murray Harbour from June 28 to July 5th. The property is divided between a bed and breakfast main property and 5 cabins with access to a small lake. It’s clear from the beginning that preferential treatment is provided to the b&b guests. The cabins are basic. The furnishings are dated and appliances several decades old. To be blunt, I’ve been more comfortable in the last economy row of a discount airline on an international flight. Upon arrival we noticed that several of the amenities as advertised were not available or provided. Laundry services were described as “in unit” but in fact were pay per use in a common area. Basic sundry items like bathroom soap, were ultimately not provided at all, and garbage bags only upon request and at specific times. In relaying these issues to the host they were reticent in addressing or acknowledging, and instead responded with a “go to the store and buy them”. From a customer service standpoint, the response was terse and unwelcoming. The environment was tense from that point forward. We felt watched and our every move monitored. Other guests we spoke to in adjacent cabins expressed they experienced similar experiences. We made as little an imprint as 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 dogs could make there forward, cleaned and tidied before we left early. We left them a good review as a matter of respect for a fellow host despite these issues. They ultimately chose not to reciprocate and left an untruthful review of our conduct and stay. We would never stay there again and would recommend you don’t as well.

Karl and Tanya are wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts were fabulous. We stayed for two nights in the very spacious Lake View Room and it was sparkling clean and comfortable. The bed and breakfast building itself is lovely and great for a couple (we took advantage of the "relaxation room" and exclusive use of the hot tub for an hour -- what a nice touch). If we had come when we were younger with our kids, they would have loved the lake and the boats. As it was, we took the canoe out and had a nice leisurely paddle. We ended up here because we wanted to attend a concert in Montague, but it was a nice spot to end up.
