Douglas House

After looking at the website , we chose unit 13 when we booked . It’s on the second floor in the back of the property. The unit was clean , the king size bed was soft , and the bathroom immaculate . There is a sink, microwave, coffee maker and small fridge. Plates , cups and utensils are provided We liked the option to have the room serviced or not , by a sliding sign on the door outside. I’m not one who needs towels or sheets changed every single day. We did have service once. This room has view of the courtyard garden and the pool. Douglas House is meant for relaxing and having peace. We were so happy to find a place for quiet adults and also close to restaurants and shops on Duval St. Parking is a two-minute walk up the street. We loved the pool, which was open at night. After a hot day of walking and touring, it was a welcome amenity. The staff is outstanding, and very helpful. Two things I would ask to be added to the unit are a small table and two chairs for eating, and one extra lamp for reading at the other end of the sofa. And that’s not a complaint, just an observation. We will book here again without hesitation.

Perfect location just off Duval St, a 10 minute walk to the buoy at the Southernmost Point and 25 minutes to Sloppy Joes. Hemingways House is a 5 minute walk away also. A nice characterful Key West hotel with spacious rooms and nice bathroom. There’s also a nice little plunge pool in the courtyard. We had a great stay and everyone was very friendly. Free parking just at the end of the street

Stayed for three nights in Unit #10. Pros: quiet location and our unit was great, free parking a block away, friendly/helpful staff, cozy, free coffee and newspapers, within walking distance of lots of attractions and restaurants, the porch of our unit was up in the treetops which was cool. Cons: you'd better like roosters (they start at sunrise but we didn't mind), there is no elevator (there are quite a few steps up to Unit #10 but we knew that in advance), our only complaint is about the bathroom. It is sunken. You have to go down several steps to get to it. You'd better remember that in the middle of the night or you will have an accident. The shower is huge but it is very difficult to adjust the water temperature. All in all a very pleasant stay.
