Petani Bay Hotel - Adults Only

What a gem of a hotel on the west coast of Kefalonia. We were looking for a small adult only place to stay and were lucky to find this lovely boutique hotel. It is a family run affair, with Voula and her husband George at the helm, and their lovely adult children George & Elena helping to provide a seamless, relaxing and happy stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them to organise including arranging a private speedboat trip, booking restaurants and even giving us lifts down to the stunning beach just below the hotel before we decided we needed to hire a car, which Voula kindly organised for us. We had a lovely small suite with breathtaking panoramic views across the bay. The room had a small kitchen area with a fridge and there was a small dining table and chairs. The bed was very comfortable (even the pillows which I’m normally very critical of In hotels!). Breakfasts (included) were a delight with traditional Greek pastries, meats and cheeses available, alongside eggs, bacon, pastries and bread. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the stunning Petani Bay, eating watermelon, Greek honey & Yoghurt has got to be one of the best ways to start the day! The pool bar is lovely and open from 11 until 11. They serve drinks and coffees and then hot and cold food From their “snack” menu from 13.00. They are happy to provide iced water free of charge which is a bonus, especially in very hot weather. Relaxing chill out music plays which enhances the holiday vibe. The only downside to the hotel is that it is built on a hill (hence the staggering views) and therefore has many stairs and steps to get to the accommodation. It wasn’t a problem for us but for one of our adult daughters, who has a disability, it did present a few challenges. However Voula was very helpful and managed to relocate the two girls to a lower level room which we were very grateful for. Also, the hotel is in a very quiet location with only two tavernas within walking distance (the closest one of which you would NOT want to eat at!) and two others on the lovely beach below the hotel (the one we tried was great). The beach is down a very steep hill so not really suitable for walking, especially at night so all in all it is advisable (if not essential) to hire a car. There is a secure car provided for guests above the hotel (more stairs!). We will definitely return - as it seems many of their guests do! A really lovely place to stay!

This was our second visit to Petani Bay hotel because we love everything about it! Breathtaking views, combined with the tranquil suuroundings of the hotel itself, make it such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Spotlessly clean, recently refurbished, elegant suites; beautifully tended grounds; fabulous infinity pool; and welcoming, attentive and professional staff - the list goes on. The breakfasts, on the terrace overlooking the bay are varied and delicious and we also enjoyed poolside snacks like meatballs and club sandwiches, not to mention specially requested tea and cake! Yes, you do need a car but there is a lovely taverna within walking distance. Needless to say, we can't wait to return!

Clean and comfortable, very convenient, good breakfast, polite staff. The hotel is in perfect location. We had a really good stay and will stay again. The most comfortable bed and pillows, lovely room. Very friendly staff. Amazing views from rooms.

I decided to visit Kefalonia after seeing a photo of the Petani Bay Hotel. So I had a lot of expectations. The hotel requires a minimum of 3 nights and Mrs. Voula kindly let me stay for the 2 nights I had available after changing my flight date. Before Petani Bay, we had stayed at the excellent Leivatho Hotel, where I paid less than half the price at Petani Bay and they offered us much more. The hotel is very beautiful, well maintained, with an incredible view of Petani Beach. The employee Helena is really fantastic. The room is very spacious, with a beautiful view of Petani Beach. Kitchen utensils scarce. There was almost nothing Great bathroom, shower and amenities. Very good breakfast. What was missing? It had everything to be spectacular but it was a normal accommodation, I even thought the price was high for what was offered. I paid less than half the price at Leivatho and they offered us much more. Conclusion: a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful place but it lacked a touch of affection for the guest and despite having a kitchen in the room, there were almost no utensils. Would I go back: maybe. Although the three-night minimum is too much in a hotel with no restaurant, no attractions other than the pool and neach.

We stayed at this wonderful 'adults only' hotel 9 - 16 September in the beautiful Orino suite. Voula and John greeted us with open arms and we could not fault a thing. The breakfast was delicious - and so much of it!, including tasty treats to finish off, plus the light lunch round the pool and bar area was superb!. Voula, John and their staff - George, the Manager, Panos and Meleana - were all so friendly and could not do enough for us! especially Panos, who was by the pool bar until mid afternoon. Plus of course the staff behind the scenes - again all friendly and smiling - a very nice family and friendly feeling in this hotel. We loved the home grown vegetables and fruit from John - he should be very proud! Voula's knowledge of Kefalonia is absolutely first class - Voula listens to exactly what you want and we consequently we had a wonderful 6 hour tailor-made private tour. We met many repeat guests - which says it all - and we intend to go back to Petani Bay Hotel again. Must also mention the breathtaking sunsets!! What more could you want from a holiday!. An exceptionally run hotel with the owners ensuring their guests have the best at all times. Thank you! A&T

We had the most relaxing time met some great people .The rooms are superb the setting is fantastic and the hosts and staff are wonderful. The breakfasts and evening meals are excellent. The swimming pool has mesmerising addictive views and the loungers are the most comfortable we have ever used.We did not want to leave and will definitely return soon. Joe & Andrea

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, with beautiful views, wonderful staff, amazing pool, and comfortable rooms. Had dinner there one night and it was delicious. The only reason for deducting a start and why we wouldn't stay there again is that it's so far removed from anything else. Really do need a car if staying there. There are 2 tavernas within walking distance that are ok. The beach is a long steep walk away and we didn't even bother going.

Isolated location on the top of a mountain with nothing around.Rooms have balconies but view is blocked by the lobby.Breakfast absolute minimum coffee,eggs toast.You must rent a car to reach the hotel.You must take a ferry boat.You have to drive to go to the beach.We prepaid on the hotels website a room for 3 nights.We flew on Aegean to the island but the pilot could not land the plane due to high winds.We missed our first night.We called the hotel and advised them about our situation.There was no other flight on that day out of Athens.We arrived at the hotel the next day.The owner allowed us to spend only two nights.He asked us to pay twice for the third night at a price higher than the one posted on his web site!!We were the only guests at the hotel.We will never return.

We have just returned from the most amazing holiday at Petani Beach hotel. Owners John and Voula are the best we have encountered without a doubt. On arrival a most welcomed complimentary drink and seated to take on the most amazing views of the ocean and hills surrounding the hotel. Our luggage was taken and placed in our rooms and Voula was on hand to assist with any questions we had. Voula and John go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be. Informing you of places of beauty/interest plus recommendations for restaurants. George the Manager is also amazing, a man that manages many hats from chef to barman. Joanna and Andriana too the waitresses. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Petani beach hotel is located in a tranquil and scenic location to have peace and relaxation. Voula will help you with invaluable information throughout your stay for places of interest and beauty which will require the hire of a car. The sunsets from our balcony were something we have never experienced before and have to be seen to be believed. Thank you all for making our holiday a most memorable one, will definitely be back Karen and Rick
