Joy of Zanzibar

The place is truly magical, far from the tourist hustle at a quiet beach in the village of Michamvi. The hotel is very spacious, with plenty of sun loungers and a big pool, as well as direct access to the beach. The best part is the beautiful sunset every night. The food was great and the menu offers a great variation of local and international dishes and is very delicious. You should definitely try their take on the Zanzibarian soup “Urojo”. Although there were some small problems with the rooms, the staff and manager were helping very quickly to fix the issue. Especially the manager Regina was extremely friendly, every morning she checked on us while having breakfast and personally checked in and followed up on any issues we had. We felt very much like home, asante sana!

We happened on Joy after a disappointing night at a neighboring hotel, and were delighted with this find. The setting on the endless white sand beach, the simple quiet of the hotel and grounds, the rooms are lovely, breakfast is ample and delicious, and best of all, the staff are simply angels in disguise. Precious, Japhet, Devorah, Samwell and others made our two week stay here so wonderful that we felt we were leaving family when we had to depart. It's not perfect; like other hotels on Zanzibar, power outages make for difficulty at times. And it's not for everyone: If you're looking for boom-boom music all night long or dozens of activities at every turn, this will not make you happy. But there are activities aplenty, from snorkeling to stand-up paddleboarding to sailing, fishing, etc, it's just that they're set in this peaceful setting where the staff keeps an eye on your well-being.

A wonderfull resort in a more quiet part of Zanzibar. we stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay and especially the delicious food. The "a la carte" breakfast formula is fantastic! Thank you Regina for the good services and also for changing rooms after 1 night.

An amazing place to stay in Zanzibar! Really nice and helpfull staff: Regina, Bernard, Sahid, the cooks... unfortunately I don´t know all their names but everybody was so kind to us! Breakfasts and meals were DELICIOUS, the bungalows very comfortable and the best sunsets can be seen right from the hotel (the beach is right there). I really recommend this place :)
