Diamonds Mapenzi Beach

My husband and I had a great experience at Dimond Mapenzi Beach resort. The African style of the hotel is truly amazing. The rooms are clean and spacious. Our chambermaid Nyome was a young, beautiful humble lady who made the room looking immaculate. The food in the main restaurant, as well as in the beach restaurant was amazing. Victor, the chef, and Assab , the restaurant manager, made big efforts to satisfy the guests. Diner was often served on the beach. What an amazing thing to do. Zabibu, Anitha , Fred (trainee) and the other members of staff on the bars and restaurants were ever so friendly and nice. Beach boys Zariba and Millcome were very helpful too. I want to tank everybody, including Daniel, the manager, for making our stay so pleasant and happy.

I want to start by saying that it was the first time I left Europe and I had the most beautiful experience of my life. Everything at Diamonds Mapenzi is superlative: the diversity of the food, cocktails, pool, vibe, cleanliness and so on. What surprised me the most was the kindness of the people there, always happy, trying to do everything so you can fell good. Except that every member of the staff were great and attentive, one young lady there, named Heriet became our friend very quick. She tought us to play " BAO", the traditional Zanzibari game, she sang with my and my wife at karaoke night and we had a great interaction with her while we were there. I strongly recommend Diamonds Mapenzi .10+

The PR and communications team have done a wonderful job profiling the hotel however the reality on the ground is quite different; the staff are lovely but could do with a bit more professional training; the meals are not exciting and once you stay a day longer it starts to taste bland and less than predictable. The rooms need a touch-up especially in the bathrooms where the tiles get slippery and sinks are too shallow; watch out for the tap water which shouldn’t be consumed at all so you are dependant on bottled water which you may have to keep asking for(treat the tap water so that guests can brush their teeth) Notable strangeness is the number of stairs you meet when accessing literally every part of the resort so if you have mobility challenges this is not the place for you (ramps and inclusive facilities are lacking…the check-in process is interesting and like no where else coz you an information overload from an exuberant staff member and then the checkout process is a puzzle…I didn’t feel like coming back when i was done. Spare a thought for the front line staff who help with luggage, they hoist it to the reception when you check in and then double back to take the same luggage to your room. The same process plays out when checking out, your luggage needs to be in eye view of the front desk when you clearing your bill ( note that the reception is located in the heart of the hotel which is quite inconvenient for guests- I suggest a location change to make it accessible and more user friendly You get new information thrown at you the moment you have checked in, for instance the daily charge of infrastructure fee and the fact that all the power sockets in the room are 2 pin so you have to borrow a top plug from the reception at a fee of $10…plan you excursions in advance coz there are some sneaky persons waiting to fleece you…some staff are disengaged and will want to make a quick buck on the side so just have local currency handy so that you don’t have to exchange your foreign currency, book you tour activity like diving and all in advance with a professional guide

Is the one of the best hotel we choose and has fabulous service and you its very calm for relaxing. Food is very delicious, drinks is awesome. Spacious room with immaculate decoration, nice activities big thank to Jamal and his team. All the department work together and helpful for the guests smoothly check in and out, the view around the main restaurant is gorgeous.Diamond is world class hotel has unique service and creative to make sure all the guests enjoyed. We had different evening events „Cinema under the stars was really good with the popcorn it was best moment to relax after excursion to Jozan forest. We really enjoyed the moment

Had a great stay here for 12 nights in late Feb / early March. Such a lovely resort with well cared for and colourful gardens and really authentic buildings/style that allow you to get a proper Zanzibar feel. Food is great - varied and always lots of options, healthy too with lots of veg and tropical fruits (special thanks to Vinoth and Victor!). The staff here are fantastic - always friendly and asking if you have everything you need or would like another drink (special thanks to Zabiru at the beach bar and Zainab and Sitty!). We had a great stay - many thanks all!
