Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa

One life experience We stayed there for six days Such stunning location with a wide beach in front. Starting from the room to the service in the restaurants, everything was top notch. The hotel offers two special nights where you can have dinner on the sand under the stars. And the variety of food is up to everyone 's palate. You can also enjoy the live music offered by the entertainment team. Live stations to experience ranging from Zanzibar food to European style food. That's a must. The GM and the staffs make you feel the Zanzibar touch and they were so friendly that they would go out of the way to give you the best experience. You will never be short of delicious cocktails made at the bar. Hats off to the executive chef Sunil who has been able to mix the flavours for you to enjoy a nice dinner at the buffet. My whole stay was just perfect and I would definitely return back. Highly recommended for those who want a memorable experience.

We had a fantastic stay at Gold Zanzibar! It is a super beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly staff who made extra efforts to pamper us, the rooms were lovely, and the food was superb. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, and we had a truly wonderful stay! I also thoroughly enjoyed the facials I had done by Rose. We would like to extend a special thank you to Chef Saydraouten Warren who went above and beyond every day to conjure up the most delicious vegetarian dishes just for us!

So many good things that we enjoyed at this establishment for eight days. Weather was fantastic the whole stay. Beach: one of the best, lovely morning walks to the north Water: crystalblue and warm Sunset: majestic everyday Room: 90 sqm of delight Food: absolutely insane number of dishes that varied every night, some 20-30 mains to choose from Desserts: variations of 15-20 each night Breakfast: all you could ask for Staff: so many and so good. Grace and Baraza gets the extra mention but ALL of them was outstanding. So if you are off to Zanzibar do not miss out on this one.

This was our first time visiting Zanzibar, we were coming with a large group of family and friends. It took us some time choosing this hotel amongst others. So after months of deciding between 3 other resorts we chose Gold. In summary the following is our sentiment about the hotel 1. It does not feel like a luxury 5 star resort at all, it’s more of a 4 star hotel 2. It lacks life, it’s too quiet , for a hotel that was supposedly fully booked , where are the people ?it goes dead at night compared to all the other surrounding hotels . The sultan bar could’ve been a happening place but it’s always empty . They don’t play music at the pool or beach , so when we tried to create an ambiance with our music on a small speaker they asked us to turn it off . 3. The food at the dinner buffet was just your average tasteless buffet food. I’m surprised at all at good reviews about food, we were a huge group and most of us agreed that it’s not good at all . Our package was half board and we ended up having dinner at restaurants outside the resort every night. One night we had dinner around the pool. The white flood lights on the buffet give it a tacky feel . No vareity in f and b outlets so there’s no options to try other places except the pool restaurant which is another story. The restaurant next to the pool is so outdated with its furniture and aesthetic, the bar area is just blah . It doesn’t even have a vibe . The variety in breakfast options is average , not much healthy foods , mediocre selection of cheeses . All concentration is on danishes and croissants , the room that has the water , juices and cheese has a bit of a smell . 4. The activities and events at the resort were mediocre to non existent. After taking a walk on the beach and seeing what other resorts are doing in terms of non stop fun activities , gold should really invest in a proper entertaining program . I witnessed one aquatic pool activity at Gold .. where there were just literally 4 women in the water and the instructor ( who definitely was not even close to being fit ) was giving them instructions while he was standing on the ledge of the pool, not even being in the water with them . Even The entertainment show at dinner was just so commercial , I can’t consider it a show ! .. a couple of local girls dancing to Arabic pop music ! So it’s neither a traditional tanzanian dance nor cultural music . They should invest in an interesting entertainment program , guests who can afford Gold resort are exposed to high quality entertainment, so this is very mediocre . 5. Kids club is a joke .. it looks so shanty and basic , and was always empty . 6.. 7. Poor area is average , the aesthetic of the arches around does not give an elegant feel. It feels like it’s a hotel thats been then for 20 years and is outdated and needs maintenance. beach has a bit more life so we stayed there . 9. Rooms are ok, furniture is outdated , curtains are tacky , no amenities such as ironboard or hair drye

We had the best experience staying at Gold Zanzibar. Good food that changes within the days, good facilities and excellent service - especially by Nicolle from costumer service. The hotel has a private beach and the rooms are clean, modern and big.

Among the Italian travel agencies, this resort is really popular and I had highly expectations. Unfortunately since our arrival I have been disappointed. For a 5 stars hotel I would have expected a higher level of service and attention to details. The room was clean but the food needed improvement. The buffet offered a wide choice of Italian cuisine, too bad some dishes were cold and lacked description. The beach would also be beautiful and relaxing, if it weren't for the Masai and other vendors who immediately attack you as soon as you approach the water ... not to mention the acrobats who pass by at least twice a day with their loudspeakers blasting music. Luckily for them, there was GRACE (waitresses at Kilimanjaro Restaurant). She was so kind with us and her attitude was perfect. She had an unique presence and always welcomed us with her beautiful smile. But I was really impressed (and also expected this from everyone at the resort) by her positive energy and correct approach during the service. In conclusion, I do not recommend relying on the concierge of the resort as he sold us an activity but in the end it was anything else and paying even more than necessary. I am very disappointed as I expected much more from this resort for what I paid. I do not recommend it

We went to Gold to have lunch and it was wonderful! The location and the buildings are very beautiful, the staff are very nice and the food was tasty. I have celiac disease and cannot eat gluten and they were very accommodating with both gluten free pasta and bread. The restaurant manager told us there would be a singer later that night so we came back for dinner as well. Super cozy with the singer and we had a romantic table with our feet in the sand. The best food experience we had in Kendwa!

Gold Zanzibar is the best hotel you can choose. This hotel has all the facilities that you can dream of. Their kitchen is always crisp fresh, everything is prepared for you on the spot with the most care. Lunch and dinner are completely different, nothing passes a second time of food. The serving people are always very friendly, very motivated. Young Mister Amani really does his utmost and gives enormlessly respect to the people. Chapeau Amani. You go the extra sparkle! How many times have you run for coffee for us? Nothing is too much for you. The pool boys are always happy and helpful. The hotel is always and everywhere clean. The garden is perfectly maintained. The management is super sweet and caring, to their customers and also to their employers. You really find this often. The massage is also highly recommended. They really treat the pain points. We were received and treated like royalty in Gold Zanzibar, really not normal. We never return to the same hotel, with an exception for Gold Zanzibar. We have just been by them for the 2nd time. My admiration for this hotel and their people is mega high...and yes! We are returning...words are further unnecessary...this is a super deluxe hotel.

Perplexed about the resort's 5-star rating. Beyond the lack of care for the (dirty) beach, the staff is not very attentive starting from the beach guards (constantly with their heads lowered to the screen of their phone without noticing passers-by rummaging through the bags left under the umbrellas), continuing with the waiters are listless, slow and often forget orders (there are few really kind and helpful ones, I remember Grace, Peter, Aidan, Combino, Helly and in general those who take care of cleaning the rooms), I have rarely seen managers going around the resort or monitor staff activity. For the quality of the food: the Gold restaurant has a little varied menu and the quality of the food left me very perplexed, while the Kilimanjaro buffet restaurant has little variety. The cocktail menu is very limited and mocktails are practically absent. Resort without a sports center (there is only a small but very clean gym). Noisy nearby resorts. Personally, although I found the holiday relaxing, I would not recommend either the destination or the resort.
