My recent stay at Cinnamon Citadel left much to be desired, particularly in terms of dining experience and overall service quality. While the location of the resort is undeniably beautiful and well-situated, with picturesque views of Kandy, the shortcomings in service overshadowed its scenic charm. Upon arrival, the reception staff greeted us warmly, and their courteous demeanor was a promising start to our stay. However, this positive impression quickly waned once we dined at the resort's restaurant. The half-board meal plan we had booked promised a variety of dining options, including vegetarian choices. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of our expectations. The vegetarian selections were severely limited, especially for those preferring Indian cuisine. Despite our inquiries and requests, the staff's response lacked professionalism and courtesy. One particularly disappointing incident occurred when I approached the head chef to request a vegetarian option for my child during the dinner buffet. Instead of accommodating our reasonable request, the chef's dismissive attitude and suggestion to order from the à la carte menu were disheartening. Although, after an initial refusal, the chef later arranged for the vegetarian pizza upon discussing with a manager, the initial lack of willingness to accommodate our request was disappointing and reflected poorly on the resort's commitment to guest satisfaction. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the dessert section offered absolutely nothing for vegetarians, further highlighting the lack of consideration for dietary preferences. The lack of variety and flexibility in the dining offerings was further compounded by the dated and somewhat unkempt state of the rooms. While the resort's location was its saving grace, the overall experience was marred by subpar service and facilities. In conclusion, while Cinnamon Citadel boasts a prime location with stunning surroundings, its dining experience and room quality leave much to be desired. Improved service training and maintenance efforts are necessary to elevate the guest experience to the standard expected of a reputable establishment.
