Indeed, from arriving at the Sainoniwa hotel entrance by free shuttle bus (from Kanazawa train station), thru check-in, breakfast, and check-out, all staff were gracious and helpful, eager to assist with any questions. The first thing that struck me when entering the hotel was the immaculate landscaping. The Japanese maples, the babbling brook, and the picturesque stone lantern in the garden by the lobby brought me a great sense of relaxation. (Even the gym has its own beautiful views of manicured trees and shrubs) Check out the roof for sweeping views of Kanazawa and the surrounding mountain range. My room was quite pleasant, a nice mix of Japanese-style (replete with futon and zabuton), and Western (beds). The shower might have been of the top three showers I have ever experienced, both in terms of pressure and temperature, and equally inviting was the near-complete lack of noise emanating from the corridor/other rooms/outside the hotel. And for those of you who want a nice view of the Kanazawa area, check out the rooftop! As for the breakfast, it was buffet-style. There were plenty of delicious staples, such as raw vegetables, soup, grilled fish, omelets, and baked goods. It was a real seasonal treat, augmented by the fact that you can take your breakfast by the hotel entryway garden. Very good breakfast buffet with dishes changing on a daily basis. Of particular note are the various jams for pastries, local Ishikawa prefecture bites, omelets, and ice cream. Sit on the garden terrace for an even more relaxing bite. To sum it all up, top notch accommodations in one of Japan's most captivating cities.
