We are located on the west side of the Big Island of Hawaii, directly above Kailua-Kona, on the side of Mt Hualalai, in Holualoa, with an awesome ocean and coastline view! Please read our reviews because the view from the cottage lanai is better than we can describe in words!Our custom built studio cottage is about 500 sq. feet with a roomy wide lanai, and special bistro high seating to enjoy the fabulous ocean view. MUST see to appreciate!The cool elevation of our cottage is 1400 ft. with a beautiful view of the coastline over Honokohau Harbor. The sunsets we get to enjoy are incredible! The coqui frogs will sing to you in the early eve but quiet down during the middle of the night. Some call them them "night singing birds". Holualoa town itself, is a small quaint art village now, and a classic old small Hawaiian town with lots of history. Holualoa area is a very preferred area to stay and live because of the cooler temperatures, Kona coffee country all around, coastline views, and it's close proximity to town. There are several events in our village including "First Fridays" each month when local artists, musicians, food booths and more are all along the streets through Holualoa Town. Entry is by using a code provided before your arrival. Simple, no need for # sign or enter…just the four digits. This code is good only for your use, and during the dates of your visit.Other things to note:Most of the time, the island breeze and the fans we have installed in the unit, provide enough fresh air to be very comfortable. We get an amazing influx of ocean breeze due to our location. However, at times, the heat and humidity proves to be too much, and the air conditioner may be needed to cool off the space. Electricity is very expensive on the island, so we monitor the use of the air conditioner.Our recommendation while you stay at our unit is to open all the windows (living room and kitchen) as well as leave the lanai glass door and the front door open, only close the screen doors to allow for the breeze to flow through the unit. This along with the pretty strong ceiling fans, make the space very comfortable.My property Manager, David, comes by on the day of your arrival and opens all the windows and lanai doors, as well as turns on all the fans, to vent the space. You are welcome to continue to do so during your stay. At night, I recommend that you close the curtains on the lanai (for privacy) while leaving the glass doors open. This will keep the air circulating at night and make it more comfortable for you.However, at times, the heat and humidity proves to be too much, and the air conditioner may be needed to cool off the space. If you decide to use the Air Conditioning in the unit, we gently ask that you use it responsibly:1. Always close all windows and the lanai door when the AC is in use.2. Only turn it on when you are staying indoors for an extended period of time and off when you are not in the unit.3. Please set the AC to 72 degrees minimum, even at night. The condo is small enough that it can be cooled off rather quickly and there is no need to set it below 72 to make it comfortable. We are situated a comfortable few steps away from the general pool/jacuzzi/barbecue area and yet conveniently around the corner so as to avoid any disruptive noises from there. The condo feels like a home away from home, with an up close view of the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean where you will experience Hawaii in all its natural splendor, removed from the tourist crowds. Palm trees sway softly as the waves rush into shore. Look for dolphins, turtles, and if you’re lucky, even whales frolicking right in front of you! Every sunset, a few boogie boarders will ride those waves into Honl's Beach, just 200 feet away. This is known as the home of boogie boarding. The little beach at the corner of the resort grounds, is an easy 2-minute walk from the condo, and features a small cove where there is some nice snorkeling to be had. * Please note that while there is an elevator to get to the top floor, there is an additional short flight of stairs to climb - a total of 9 steps.
