Our stay at Regnum The Crown and wanted to share an honest and detailed review to help others make an informed decision. Before arrival, I had already experienced issues. The hotel did not respond to my emails asking about facilities, restaurant bookings, or other pre-arrival arrangements. It was only after I posted on Tripadvisor that I received a reply — and even then, they asked me to state in the subject line that I was “the guest who posted on Tripadvisor.” That in itself should have been a red flag. Are they really saying you need to post publicly to get a reply? Once here, I can sadly confirm this hotel is far from ready to deliver the 5-star luxury it advertises — especially given that we're paying over £1,000 per night. At this level, service should be seamless and polished. Instead, it feels like a soft launch, with paying guests being used as a test run while they figure out which systems and staff work, and which don’t. A few examples from our stay: Restaurant Booking Failures: We booked in person with Guest Relations and received confirmation via WhatsApp. But when we turned up for our first reservation — at the sister hotel Carya — they had no record of it. We were left standing awkwardly while they tried to squeeze us in. Additionally, you're only able to book restaurants up to three days in advance, which is extremely limiting when you're staying for a week or longer. When trying to explore other options later in the stay, we were simply told there was no availability — something that doesn’t seem to add up given how many of the hotel’s facilities and restaurants remain closed. Laundry Service Shambles: Something as simple as laundry has turned into a saga. Three phone calls, conversations with housekeeping who said it wasn’t their department, three trips to reception, confusion over a non-existent form, and even being asked to prove we were guests when we physically brought the laundry down ourselves — despite holding branded laundry bags and a completed hotel form. This was nothing short of ridiculous. Facilities Not Open: One of the main selling points of this hotel — the rooftop pool — isn’t open. Nor is the gym (you have to use Carya’s). Several restaurants are also still closed, including YanJi, Al Waha, and the steakhouse. I specifically asked about these before booking and received no clear answers. Room & Housekeeping: The air conditioning in our room hasn’t worked properly since we arrived — it doesn't seem to cool below 23°C, which is very uncomfortable when it’s over 30°C outside. After a hot day, you need a cool space to relax and sleep, and this isn’t it. On top of that, our room wasn’t cleaned at all on one of the days — for no apparent reason — and I had to call reception to have it done. Turn-down service has only happened once during our stay so far. These are small details, but at a true 5-star hotel, they should never be missed. Lack of Orientation & Language Barriers: When we first arrived, there was n
