Chateau des Janroux

What a find in the Beaujolais region of France. Loved this beautiful chalet! Room was nicely furnished and huge with private bath. Breakfast was perfect with melt in your mouth freshly baked croissants and local jams. Good coffee too. Having said that, the highlight was touring Herve’s private wine cellar and tasting 10 of his best wines. He has hundreds of bottles in the cellar. You’ll learn more about wines from Herve than any winery visit in France, or anywhere for that matter. Herve’s wife had great restaurant recommendations for the area!

What a perfect spot to begin our trip from southern Burgundy to Bandol. Our host and hostess went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was something out of a French romance novel. Clean, quiet, comfortable bed, plenty of space. Breakfast was delightful --fresh croissant, locally made jams and jellies, cheeses, yogurt, all served in a sweet parlor. Just wish we could've stayed a bit longer.

We had a lovely stay. The property is secluded with mountains all around, and our hosts, Hervé and Natalia, accentuated our experience with an amazing wine tasting, fresh cherries from their tree, making dinner recommendations and placing reservations on our behalf, hiking recommendations (we took Circuit 2 which was a 10 minute walk from the property, and the hike brings you to the top of the region), and a great breakfast every morning (they do even more, but I don’t want to ruin any of their surprises!) We stayed in the Chambre la Comtesse. It was well decorated and fit our needs well. The bath does not have a fixed shower head but one that pulls out from the faucet. That turned out not to be an issue for us, but if it would be for you they have a number of other nice rooms to choose from. All in all, if you are looking for a trip outside of a French city and want an experience in the countryside, we would highly recommend staying at Château des Janroux because of the well-designed property, the great food within a close vicinity, great hiking views, and the hosts that made every aspect better. We felt the warm welcome the moment we arrived by the owner Hervé. He offered us a welcome drink (his own) and told us his history at the Chateaux . It was excellente service and Hervé helped to guide us in Beaujolais. He gave super suggestions for restaurants and sights to visit. Very good, loval breakfast. We hardly recommend

We spent two wonderful nights at Château des Janroux. The property is beautiful, the room was comfortable and lovely, and the hosts are incredibly warm, hospitable, and helpful. We highly recommend doing the wine tasting with Hervé - he has put together an amazing cave of excellent wines, having tasted many wines from all 12 appellations and chosen the best of them to share with his customers. We hope to return again with friends.

Nous avons passé une vraie parenthèse enchantée ! Le cadre ? Charmant. L’accueil ? Aux petits soins. Le confort des chambres ? Digne d’une sieste royale. Tout était réuni pour un séjour parfait. Côté Beaujolais, on a été servis (dans tous les sens du terme). Des dégustations pleines de caractère, des histoires de domaines qui nous ont fait voyager sans quitter notre verre… On en redemande ! Et l’humour dans tout ça ? Présent du début à la fin. Et Jusque dans la déco. Franchement, le plus dur… c’était de repartir. Merci
