Our group (corprate cum leisure) had one of the worst experiences at Fairfield Jodhpur in our recent 3 days road trip to Rajasthan. In our event & hospitality management experience of organizing corporate conferences & tours across India this was by Far one of the worst experiences. Our excellent experience of the beautiful Jaisalmer, Sam Sand Dunes & Jodhpur was brought to a halt when we arrived at Fairfield by Marriott, Jodhpur, not because it's Limited service hotel but because of quality of service. On arrival guests were made to wait to check in(that too at 4 O’clock in the afternoon) ,why ? because hotel wanted email id’s and mobile number of each guests. Inspite of me assuring them that I shall collect it and submit it later , please allow my guests to check-in, they were insisting on “ Management policy” . They did not think of asking this information before arrival. After much haggling, which was witnessed by all guests, we were given room keys. Then came another misinformation, our lunch was organized at a banquet hall and no information was given to either the tour leader or the front office team. We were told by the team member at front desk that lunch is at coffee shop which was on 1st floor of the hotel, and when guests got inside the elevator, were asked to come out as lunch was not at coffee shop but in a banquet hall, it was embarrassing to say the least. Service was pathetic during the lunch. Guest were made to wait for rotis, empty chafing dishes and curd, yes curd. They couldn’t refill and the reason was “ our kitchen is on another floor “ . I personally had to pick up the bowl of curd and had to take it to kitchen to get it refilled. Our ordeal was not over yet, dinner was going well until one of our guest found a piece of plastic cello tape in his dessert. Executive Chef, a very kind gentlemen , did come to apologies . However, No steps were taken for service recovery then and there . I had to pacify my guests , which I did, them being my regular clients. Nevertheless, seeing deficit in services, I decided to make entire payment in the night itself so we can get a smooth group check-out early next morning ,only to be told on check-out that I havnt settled my group bills yet. I was surprised and shocked. Apparently, the front desk team had no information of my advance payments which was being done much before arrival itself. There was no internal communication of the same. Front desk team was asking me for payment receipts when they themselves should have it with them fed into the system. I booked this hotel assuming its Marriott and they live by high service standards, I know that. However, this was quite an opposite of what I thought it would be. Anyway, all was not bad, as food was good . Exe Chef was kind enough to accommodate our request for local speciality “Daal Bati choorma” into our buffet spread. Having said that, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Please avoid Fairfield by Marriott, Jodhpur
