Iberostar Waves Playa Gaviotas All Inclusive

Another fantastic holiday at this hotel,our fourth visit. We upgraded to Star Prestige and it was worth it. The infinity pool and separate bar and snack area was fantastic. The staff here are amazing. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary during our stay so I emailed the reception and they arranged for a beautiful bouquet from a local florist to be in our room when we arrived as a surprise for my wife. I had mentioned the actual date of our anniversary but was amazed when they had remembered and dressed the room with rose petals and champagne and chocolates. We have also stayed in the five star next door but we prefer this hotel. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will be back soon

Second time here this year and still rate this hotel very highly. Staff really good and very helpful (Sabrina at reception is a star). Great food choices and the lunch time poolside restaurant is very good if you dont fancy the main buffet. Could fo with a few more premium drinks on the list but still quite good. Enjoyed sufficiently to book up for January again.

Really lovely hotel. I think as close to 5 stars that you can get without paying 5 star prices. We went as a family with 3 children (12,10 and 2) so hoping this review helps other families. We were undecided whether to stay at the Gaviotas Playa or Gaviotas Park (that is the hotel behind which I believe is advertised as more family friendly i.e. it has a bouncy pillow and some small slides for younger kids). Fate played a hand and for some reason Gaviotas Park was booked out, so we settled on Gaviotas Playa. I'm sure we would have been happy at both but the view from Gaviotas Playa is incredible and the pools are set in an oasis of palm trees with the sea as a backdrop. The way the hotel is built means that there is also a degree of protection from the wind. We visited the other hotel, Gaviotas Park, one day and it felt a lot more barren/concrete and my goodness it was windy over there. So for that reason I was quite happy with our choice. The food is excellent. I mean, all Iberostar food tends to be top notch but we didn't get as bored as usual. They display the theme on the wall on the left as you walk in. Took us a week to notice this. The chefs are all really friendly. Chocolate fountain evey night was a hit. The entertainment team are a very good bunch. They work very hard and put a lot of effort in with a lot of comedy along the way. We enjoyed all the shows that they put on the evenings. The shows without them (bar the magic show, which was v good) just didn't compare. We were worried that it wouldn't be kid friendly here but there were quite a few other kids and there was a kids club with some activities they took part in. Definitely not as many kids here as other Iberostar hotels and only a handful of kids took part in kids club but there are other activities during the day by the pool for the kids to get involved in, such as a water carpet, inflatable slide etc. The entertainment team were very good with the children. There was also an option to use the soft play in the star camp with our toddler if I came to supervise which was useful. Rooms were large and clean. Cleaning staff excellent and very friendly. The baby pool and middle pool are heated I think. The other pool was quite chilly. Baby pool was perfect for toddlers. No problem getting a sun lounger either. Plenty to go around. There is a mix of nationalities here. I would say 1/4 were from the UK when we were here. The rest probably Spanish or German. Everyone was super friendly and the staff all speak English. Lots of wildlife about too. Chipmunks on the rocks by the beach. Very cute and friendly. 2 white heron type birds that visit the cafe at the hotel each day provided lots of entertainment too. Really enjoyed it here. Couldn't fault it. The only things that could've improved our stay is more outdoor dining options and outdoor entertainment but I imagine this must be limited due the potential windy conditions!

Simply awesome. We are reasonably well traveled and have stayed at a number of AI hotels. Top tips: Book prestige. Rooms are lovely all with a sea view and large balcony. Gets you access to a private infinity pool with access to lovely snacks and a bottomless bar. Room 3217 was brilliant. Resort is not as busy as Lanzarote. Sea and beach top class. Food although Buffett provided plentiful options, if you like fish and sea food you’ll love it. Loads of pasta, salads, paella etc Staff so helpful and always smiling. We will definitely be back. We came here for our annual summer break, after loving Correlejo last year and wanted to try Jandia. I will begin with the Cons I have found with the hotel. 1. This hotel is less aimed at UK customers as it is with German or French customers. English sausages are nowhere to be found, but plenty of German style can be found easily at breakfast. 2. A 20 Euro deposit is required to hire a kettle for your room. 3. Cleaners seem to come at random times each day, so you can't plan to be out when they do come. 4. Only the bowling bar has Maestra beer on tap, and that bar is strangely empty most of the time it opens. The other bars serve lager, spirits, cocktails etc, but if your pallet wants a change, you need to go to the Bowling Bar. 5. There is only one toilet in the complex, so you have a walk to go to it, so if you need it, use it, as there are non in the bars. 6. The hotel tv can only get BBC NEWS and SKY NEWS in English. 7. The entertainment is various people singing to backing tracks except in the Theatre Room which has shows including mimed performances, and the speakers are too high in the room so talking is muffled and goes above earshot and you struggle to hear what is said. And now the good points: 1. The WiFi is very good 2. Rooms are clean. 3. The showers are excellent 4. There's a small shop for holiday basics. 5. The food is really good, lots of choice. 6. Stunning views of mountains and the beach. 7. The Pools are nice and never seem crowded, although many do reserve their sun loungers in contravention to the rules. 8. It's a quiet area, but a short walk to a few bars and shops, and from there a 20 minute walk into Jandia where you find more bars and shops, and from there a 10 minute walk into Morrajable, with more bars and shops and restaurants on the beach. 9. The staff are pleasant and helpful. So, all in all, it's a good hotel with a few minor issues, that have not really affected our holiday, but would be nice to see rectified in future.

Honestly, words really can't do this hotel justice it is that good. From the nicest staff to the amazing food, staying at the Playa Gaviotas was a dream. We stayed here as a family of 4, with 2 kids aged 14 and 6, in a superior family room, which was ideal with 2 separate rooms. We also had the added bonus of a private sunbathing area with its own jacuzzi. Special mention to Danny and the rest of the animation team, who were all superb. These guys put in their all, and are a big reason we had so much fun here. Superb guys! If you are looking for a bit of luxury, with the most amazing views, the tastiest all inclusive food I have ever tasted, and loads of fun, then this place is a must. Oh, and branded drinks also add to how good it is here. Honestly, there isn't one negative about the hotel it was that good.
