Blue Eye Hostel

Khan is real desert ***, full of experience and knowledge about desert. With him you can see the real face of the desert. It was one of the best adventures I ever done. It was absolutely amazing see the sunset beyond the dune Highly appreciate and recommend

We originally booked one night here but quicky extended our stay to three. It's a small cosy and family run place in an ideal location to walk to the fort and bazars (5-10mims) but without being right in the middle of the busy streets. Beautiful building with cosy open rooftop where you can see the sunrise and sit until late in the evening :) Baba and staff made us feel like it was our home from the moment we arrived. Delicious chai and options for breakfast also available. Super clean, comfy rooms (we had a double and its the nicest we've stayed in so far in India). Also cheapest options we found in central city. We met other travellers here as plenty of space to sit and chat/ drink chai. We 100% recommend taking the desert camel safari with these guys, they are originally from this area and grew up in the desert, the people we went out with were so friendly, welcoming and hilarious ( Santosh and others ). We had an unforgettable experience riding camels to the dunes, drinking hot chai and eating amazing fresh food cooked on open fires. Entertained with stories and singing before sleeping ( very comfy and warm) under a bright sky of stars!! Loads of places in Jaisalmer that offer tours and accomodation but having also stayed in another place in the city I can tell you you won't find better value for money, experience and welcome than the Blue Eye :D thanks guys!!

The boss and staffs of the hostel were very nice and warm welcoming. Fort is just 20min walking distance and Garhisar Lake is 30min walk distance from hostel.  They took care of the guests for everything you need. WiFi works quite good throughout the hostel. The bathroom was clean. I am very thankful to Mr. Nabab Khan (owner), who organized an excellent desert safari trip for me. Due to their warm hospitality, I'll be visiting Jaisalmer again. Therefore, I'd highly recommend this place for other travellers too..

My partner and I paid for a private room with AC and breakfast included at Blue Eye Hostel. When we were shown our room there was no working AC but as we arrived late (which was communicated to the hostel staff in advance) we decided to not mention it further. At 01:30, we received a knock on our door from the hostel owner. When we opened the door he proceeded to aggressively scream at us very loudly which did not stop for about 30 minutes. He had his foot in the room so we could not close the door and was screaming about "how we were taking his power", how "he use to live in Germany and this room was cheap in comparison" (as would be expected in India) and that "this was his hostel so he could do what he wanted". He also repeatedly asked us if we were French stating they "are rude" (although not important, I am in fact English and my partner is Dutch). My partner calmly explained to him that the booking states there would be AC, but it is not an issue that there isn't any and that we can discuss this in the morning. Guests from different rooms in the hostel came to check on us as they were concerned about his behaviour. Eventually the owner left, and my partner and I had a very restless night. Additionally, the owner cancelled our booking on *********** during the night (I assume so we are unable to leave a review!!). We woke up very early and decided to leave. When paying we asked for a written receipt as he cancelled our booking. At this stage, again he started yelling very aggressively. Another female solo traveller from Belgium (who we did not know) was incredibly scared so asked to leave with us, which is when the situation got terrifying. The owner started screaming at the solo female traveller and at one point raised his hand to hit her, which another staff member had to stop him from doing. I caught some (but not the worst of it) on video. I can’t upload these to TripAdvisor unfortunately but have attached some clips. I was about to call the police, at which point he yelled "call the police, they won't listen to you, I'll pay them" - part of this is captured in the second video which I unfortunately can’t upload. I was surprised with this experience when the hostel has an 8.9 rating on hostelworld and ***********. However, when revisiting the reviews, the 3 most recent reviews on *********** are all from the owner himself with a 10 rating! From the other reviews on *********** posted only in the last 2 weeks the ratings are often low and there are comments like from Vivek on 24th Feb stating " Horrible owner and not safe". As a female traveller, I believe it is important to raise these issues to make sure fellow travellers stay safe. In summary DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL AND DO NOT TRUST THE REVIEWS. THE OWNER IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS

The hostel has a roof top with an amazing view of the fort! Rooms are really clean and bed comfortable. Also people working here is really kind and friendly. I totally recomend that hostel if you are in Jaisalmer 😊
