Socialtel Jaco - Formerly Selina Jaco

Worst Selina ever! During my several month trip to South and Central America I visited several Selinas but I was never as disappointed as here! The bathrooms are extremely dirty, the staff often cannot speak English and are incapable of doing their own job and the food in the restaurant is inedible. There is now a wall between the pool and the sea. If you then complain about the staff or the restaurant, you will simply be thrown out of the hotel. Never again!

We arrive at the hotel with a confirmed reservation and the staff never let us in because they said they couldn’t see my reservation. I showed him on my phone with all the details and still didn’t let us in…I usually adore Selina hostels but the one in Jaco never again !!!!

Had a wonderful stay at Selina Jaco. Even with a shared bathroom between 4 rooms, we never encountered an issue as far as waiting on anyone to use the facilities. The pool, the bar, the beach, the vibes were all on point. Everyone was so friendly, staff and other travelers alike. It was nice talking to people from other walks and places of life. I loved every minute of our stay here, and will recommend this hostel to anyone! Hopefully we'll get back there next year! Pura Vida!

Great beach hostel. Visited early November and was less busy and hence wasnt very socially active. The food and drinks are great and affordable and they accept cash and card. Great beach right in front of you. The facilities and staff are good. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy is that they dont take care of the rooms well. I rented the expensive cylinders to get the feel of it but in fact didn’t enjoy much. The space is limited, the bed sheet had bird poop on it and signs of bugs. Couldn’t sleep well at night because of itching and unable to control the ac temperature (may be ac was malfunctioning or I wasn’t able to change its mode and temperature). The staff were kind and helpful in their way.

I went to Selina Jacó for a week to CoLive. I stayed in one of the cylinders. From the moment I was at the reception desk, Jennifer was there to explain everything to me. Jennifer, Juan Pablo and the other 2 girls at the reception desk were also so helpful. I liked this place so much I extended my stay another week. The highlight of my day after work was watching the nightly sunset with a bunch of guests and locals. A few beers a night was perfect. The restaurant/bar staff was so efficient and friendly. Amanda, Edwin, Guillam, Gabriel and the other guy who I don’t remember his name knew I would walk up to the bar and want an Imperial. Basically I did not talk to many of the guests except 2 people who I met coworking in Manuel Antonio earlier in the month. Yes, Selina is generally a hostel, but they also have rooms and suites which were very nice. The housekeeping staff and Lawrence, the maintenance man kept the resort fresh looking and clean. I really enjoyed my stay here. I walked the Main Street at night, rented a moped and explored, went to dinner at a restaurant recommended by Jennifer all alone. This was a perfect 2 weeks of working and relaxing. They did have a lot of activities like Slack line show, fire show, Silent Disco. The people make this place special. Keep up the good work team ❤️

Selina Jaco is the best location in Costa Rica! They are a top surf hotel with a vibe that matches. It is so different than the other Selina locations in the best way. The highlight is Tortuga Surf Camp! Selina has set itself apart and raised the bar with Tortuga Surf Camp creating their base camp there. Mike and the instructors are the best in Jaco. Tortuga works with beginners to seasoned surfers. My surfing has improved so much and I love working with them. I am so lucky to learn from people who absolutely love sharing their passion. The location is perfect and being able to go do a surf lesson on an amazing beach break with top instructors or rent a board and come back in to get work done is a plus! Tortuga Surf Camp has a weekly survival apnea workshop in the pool that takes has taken my water confidence to the next level. Mike has a passion for the water that shows in every lesson and interaction. Their photographer, Ivan, offers outstanding drone videos and photos for purchase with each lesson. I loved documenting my progress! I’m already planning my next trip back! The campus is beautiful and peaceful. The location is amazing ! Right on the beach with welcome drinks and breathtaking sunsets every night. The pool is amazing where you can eat drink and relax. The staff is just as amazing! Always something to do and so close to restaurants and fun nightlife.
