**** BED HUG ALERT!!! **** I recently stayed at Armada Hotel and unfortunately had a mixed experience. I want to start with the positive side: the staff and service were good, and they kindly managed to check us in earlier than expected, which we appreciated after traveling. However, our stay became increasingly disappointing because of several issues with the rooms. The first room did not appear clean, and we only realized the next day that the bedsheets were dirty and even had blood stains on them, which was very unpleasant and unacceptable. We also experienced a problem with the sink, as the water was draining very slowly. The hotel staff tried to help but were unable to fix the issue, so we were moved to another room. Unfortunately, the second room created an even bigger problem. We later discovered what appeared to be bed bugs. After returning from our trip, we developed bites all over our bodies and are still dealing with the effects and recovery, which significantly impacted our overall experience. While I appreciate the staff’s efforts and good customer service, the cleanliness and room conditions were far below expectations. I hope the hotel takes these issues seriously and improves its standards to prevent other guests from having a similar experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights and honestly, loved the vibe. We checked in late because of some stuff that came up, but the staff were super chill they even gave us welcome drinks 🍷 which I totally didn’t expect. Check-in was fast, no issues at all. The room was a bit small but honestly cozy, clean, and comfy enough. Then early in the morning a random cat 🐈 popped by our window 🪟 like “hi,” and it instantly made my morning. Amenities? Pretty complete everything you basically need is already in the room. The bed 🛏️ was comfy too. Breakfast 🥞 was the real winner though super delicious and everything just hit the right flavors. 5/5 🤩, no debate. The view was beautiful and really relaxing. Rooftop just needs a tiny bit of improvement, but overall the stay was great. Totally enjoyed it and would stay again.

A perfect location and perfect service. The rooms, the corridors—everywhere is spotless. If I ever return to Istanbul, this will be my first choice.

Great location, just a short walk to Hagia Sophia and other attractions. Breakfast was tasty, with a nice view of the Marmara Sea, Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia rooftops. Service, however, needs improvement. When we arrived around 10 AM with large suitcases, staff did not offer to help. Early check-in wasn’t available (understandable if full), but luggage storage had no tags, which felt insecure. We only got our room after asking several times—WhatsApp notification like some hotels use would have been more convenient. The room was clean, sheets comfortable, and AC worked well, but the TV remote didn’t function. Amenities were basic and no toothbrush/toothpaste was provided. Overall, an okay stay with great location and decent breakfast, but service quality could be better.

This was sold as a non-smoking hotel, however I was woken up multiple times overnight wheezing due to the hotel clearly having been smoked in - this was not just one or two times, the hotel really stunk of longtime smoking in the room, this was then consistent when we walked to breakfast and could smell smoke all through the corridors. We couldn’t stay there as I was taking steroids at the time due to an asthma exacerbation which meant staying in a room that had been smoked in was a major health concern and when we told them this they were totally disregarding and unhelpful, as well as refusing to refund the nights after selling us the room misleadingly. I contacted Trip.com to tell them what happened, who said that the hotel were once again uncooperative and unresponsive to them. Credit to Trip.com who did take the complaint seriously and massively helped us out, providing a refund privately which we appreciate. Aside from the issues around smoking, the room was dated, they kept a live bird in a sad, empty cage which was heartbreaking and the breakfast omelette was so salty it wasn’t edible.

I did not expect anything given the price of the hotel, but it surprised me. The cleanliness, breakfast and location of the area are amazing. Overall a good budgeted stay for a nominal price

I stayed at Amara Old City Hotel and had a great overall experience. The location is unbeatable, just 5 to 10 minutes on foot from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and other major landmarks. Perfect for sightseeing, with a lively and safe atmosphere. The hotel was clean, comfortable. The main downside is that everything around is tourist-priced — food, drinks, and souvenirs can cost 3 to 5 times more than in other parts of the city. Still, if you want to be in the heart of historic Istanbul, this is a great pick. Just consider walking a bit to find better deals on meals and shopping.

It was good value for money. The staff were friendly. They let us check in early even though we have arrived much earlier than the normal check in time. The breakfast was good, but I would not pay 15 euro for it. The room was nice and clean, but the walls were too thin, so I could hear much of what the next room guests were saying.

The staff were super friendly, and the hotel was really clean. The beach is just outside, and the view from the terrace is amazing. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Istanbul!
