Loch Erisort Hotel

We enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Loch Erisort Hotel. The bedrooms are comfortable and cosy, and the food is home cooked, freshly made and tasty. Good hearty fare, perfect for those who are having an active holiday. My husband especially loved his cooked breakfast each day - a great start to the day! Elaine, Scott and their team were very friendly and welcoming. They created such a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The location served as an ideal base for us to explore Lewis and Harris, and the peaceful setting, off the main road, ensured we had a great sleep each night. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a lovely stay in this hotel, we found the team friendly, helpful and hospitable, the food was lovely home cooking, plentiful and tasty. There is one specific dish selected each night, we ate on the sunday roast and steak and ale nights, both excellently cooked by Scott. The breakfasts were equally tasty. We felt like we were staying with family and our 3 nights were thoroughly enjoyable. The location was great for us, to easily visit the main attractions in South Lewis and Harris, with an added benefit of having their own ancient stone circle nearby for lovely sunsets.

Significantly overpriced and basic hotel. We were on a week long trip to OuterHebrides, stayed in several B&Bs and hotels. This unfortunately was the bottom of the pile by a distance mainly due to overpricing. Dinner was booked with room, charged at 32 pounds, on a given day meal was set menu with soup, choice of either a meat or veggie pie and desert! Please note several of the good reviews but largely relate to the previous owners.

There is no way in this universe that this is a hotel. The room was basic. There was an all pervading smell of old cooking oil, mixed in with the strong fustiness of damp. There is NO bar. Drinks are kept in the office. The only place to ‘enjoy’ them is in the small sparse and dreary dining area, where you can also enjoy the oily/fusty smell. There are NO seating areas inside or outside the premises other than the small dining area. The ‘bar’ opens at 5pm and closes at 8pm. They serve the worst set dinner I have ever had the misfortune to have to eat. There is no alternative, I repeat there is no alternative - either here or anywhere else in the vicinity. To quote the owner “if it’s Friday it must be fish”. The portions were small. The soup insipid, served with half a slice of brown bread cut in two, and half a slice of white cut in two. Mind this is actually ONE slice of bread - for two people! The exciting “if it’s Friday it must be fish”, frozen chips and peas was not. The owners were excessive and invasive in their enquiries about us. Twice drawing attention to my attire, which was quite disconcerting and a little unsettling. The price paid for our room was outlandish - akin to highway robbery considering the lack of amenities and the shabbiness of the accommodation. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
