After all the rave reviews we were expecting somewhere really special. The hotel is an old house that has been converted to a so called “luxury boutique hotel” with 4 stars. Somewhere along the way they must have run out of money to invest. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is excellent. However in our room (4) there was no storage space, so we had to keep most of our clothes in cases on the floor. Most of the furniture is old and what is termed “distressed”. We only had one chair and table in our room, so if we wanted to relax, we had to lie on the bed. There is no garden to sit outside, just a very small internal patio with uncomfortable chairs. The roof terrace has just two very old tables and chairs available. It seems to be designed to discourage anyone from going there, which is a pity as it would be a great place to relax with decent furniture. The car park is an absolute disgrace, surrounded by derelict buildings. On the other hand breakfast (25 euros each) was excellent. Fresh fruit, yogurt and a wide range of freshly cooked dishes were available. We did not eat in the restaurant as it was closed for the first two days we stayed. The staff were all extremely friendly.
