People first took up golf clubs at Granliden and played a few informal holes around the original summer boarding house. In the nineteen-twenties, the course was redesigned by renowned golf course architect Walter Travis.Granliden is home to two true clay courts, and two Nova Pro-Clay courts that have the feel and play of clay courts but are less affected by the weather and are playable almost immediately after a rain.
