An excellent stay on Shengshan Island. Before we even arrived, the owner already contacted us on WeChat with information about our stay and gave us very comprehensive tips for our stay. The hotel is very conveniently located, next to the boat port, the main entry onto Shengshan, and it is just across it. The owner was waiting for us when we arrived off the boat and helped us get our luggage. They have a very convenient luggage lift which means that you don't have to lug anything up the stairs. The hotel feels clean, luxurious, comfy and homely at the same time. It is a family run hotel and the reception is very warm. Our room was very clean and everything that was needed was provided. The view was spectacular from our room (image provided). The bed was very comfy and the lounger was perfect for watching the sea within the comfort of your room. The pool downstairs is great to cool off after a day out exploring. The breakfast provided was very nice and simple, some youtiao (Chinese fried dough, similar to churros), soy milk and sweet and savoury buns. All in all an excellent experience, and we thank the hosts for everything.

Shengshan is definitely not an easy place to get to, but staying at Woqu honestly made it so worth it! It’s very guesthouse style, so hosts have a full menu that they can cook for you if you don’t want to go into town for the restaurants. They were all so warm and welcoming, even though my Chinese isn’t very good. Even though they had a larger group of 21 staying at the same time as me, they still checked in on me to make sure that I was comfortable and that I could still have my privacy. They also offered me the number of a driver who was very readily available to take me wherever I wanted. The room was beautiful, with a wonderful view of the ocean. It would be really romantic for a couples’ getaway. I hope that more people come to Shengshan and Gouqi, even for just a day, just so they can experience some of the island-style warmth and hospitality that Woqu had to offer. Lần này trải nghiệm homestay đầy đủ, homestay nằm sát biển, phòng ốc rất rộng, toàn cửa sổ kính suốt từ trần đến sàn, mở rèm ra có thể nhìn ra biển. Khi thời tiết tốt, trên ghế tắm ban công, gió biển thổi rất dễ chịu. Chủ homestay rất nhiệt tình, giới thiệu đồ ăn và điểm tham quan, có thể hỏi trực tiếp trên WeChat ~ Vị trí của homestay rất gần Làng Dawang, bạn có thể đi bộ dọc bờ biển 10 phút là đến Làng Dawang tìm đồ ăn, có bãi biển dưới chân núi của homestay, bạn cũng Nhược điểm duy nhất là mỗi khi về homestay, bạn phải leo núi, nếu có người già nên cẩn thận, nếu là cặp đôi nhỏ thì rất nên ~ Nói chung là một trải nghiệm nghỉ dưỡng tuyệt vời ~

One of our best stays in China! This place was absolutely amazing. The ladies running it are hilarious and always made us laugh. First of all - the rooms are really good for the price. We got upgraded to a much better room after our first night, free of charge. It’s also conveniently located next to grocery shops, cafes, restaurants and the beach, while still being a little out of the way from the hustle and bustle. The food here is really good too - the (included) breakfast as well as what you can buy for lunch/dinner is really fresh. Because of the language barrier they tried to accommodate by providing more “western style” breakfasts for us, but when we realized and asked about it they made us a second breakfast that was like the one everyone else got. They also helped us out with a driver to take us to the abandoned village, and booked our tickets back to Shanghai. Also, the aircon here is FAST and reliable which we’ve realized isn’t a given after a few weeks in China. So that’s another (small yet important) plus for sure! Usually I like to explore different places and stay at different accommodations if/when I revisit places, but I’d probably make an exception and stay here again if I ever come back to visit the island!

酒店位置很好，距離東海漁村僅百米，鬧中取靜的好地點。車子可以開到門口，門口屋後有停車場非常方便。第一次來住在了半山其他酒店，出行要麼叫車要麼要下來幾百米台階，如果有長者孩子的實在不方便。 全部海景房，躺在床上既可以觀海～早餐晚餐我們都選擇在室外，美景配美食～房間對比其他酒店要大很多，房間和床鋪都非常乾燥完全沒異味沒有水氣，對海邊的房子來説太難的。我們住的衞生間有窗户，也同樣乾燥沒有異味，裝修風格簡潔大方，沐浴液用的資生堂（老闆娘是有要求的）～ 早餐如圖～已滿足我們需求 晚餐如圖～老闆娘親自下廚，我們多次對比在外用餐，還是老闆娘的晚餐性價比之王了，因此後續都是晚餐回來吃😂～邊晚餐邊欣賞夕陽下的海山船～ 老闆非常有責任心，確認訂單後會幫助確認定船票（不是每家都會給你電話確認你的船票），對於不是常常上島的遊人來説太貼心了。我們8月第一次上島訂了其他酒店沒人聯繫我們，我們想當然的想碼頭現場買車票船票，到碼頭現場才知道需要提前5天預訂車子肯定沒法上島，還好車上帶了一個行李箱當場裝了車上東西停車乘船。這家老闆會提醒我們預訂來回船票，如有困難也會幫助預訂～如此貼心，此次10.1當然毫無猶豫的再次選擇“極宿”～

For the cost (especially considering I bought a budget room) this is a good call, especially if your aim is to spend time exploring. It looked a bit down at heel from the outside (Goji berry island is mostly an unpretentious fishing community, not a glamorous destination, but that's part of the charm), but I was pleasantly surprised to find my room quite clean, decently spacious, everything functioning well, and a comfortable bed. Even the partial bay view was nice! Though I don't speak Chinese, the front desk staff were helpful in advising me on things like purchasing return ferry tickets, taxi prices, and restaurant recommendations. (You can try Xianmiao for seafood!) The location is also good, just at the bottom of the hill over to the Houtouwan fishing village, and quite near the island's main restaurant and market street. Breakfast was typical fare, but freshly made.
