Note: if you street park you'll have a better view of the grounds from the sliding glass door of the casita. This location is a family-friendly property with almost an acre of riverfront enjoyment!We have outdoor games such as ladder ball toss and corn hole. There is a large open part of the backyard for general running around…maybe playing a favorite family game or throwing a baseball or football back and forth. Directly behind the house are giant boulders that qualify for “King of the Mountain” status for the young and young at heart! Best of all is the river just below the outside dining patio. Just walk down a few steps, and you can wade in the whitewater middle fork of the Kaweah River. You can watch rafters and kayakers float past you at certain times of the year. We have a wide variety of birds, and watching their antics as they dart and fly through the trees along the beach is fun. We always consider it good luck to see the great blue heron fishing from a boulder or flying up or down the river. Deer and even bears walk through occasionally. (We have black bears here, which are usually very timid; it’s a thrill to see them foraging for acorns and lunging up a tree.)Gravel walkways surround the house and encourage you to enjoy the natural beauty of this spectacular location from every angle. The rock gardens and giant boulders allow you to sit quietly and listen to nature and your thoughts.This privately owned, single-family home is 800 square feet and sleeps six. It has one full bathroom, two bedrooms—one king and one double—and a full-size convertible sofa in the living room. It also boasts a washer and dryer in the outside laundry room (if you have used all your beach towels or shorts!). We have a newly remodeled kitchen with granite countertops stocked with all the necessities, including a dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, blender, and toaster. There are some spices and spice blends to stir your creativity into making meals right in your own vacation home. In addition, there is a gas grill and a covered patio table for dining. There is also a fabulous rocking swing for two or three people to sit and watch the river go by!The sunny dining nook offers a nest to enjoy your outdoor views. Its cheery coral color scheme will light up your meals and offer a lovely space to sip your beverage if you don’t feel like going outside.Oak paneling, redwood shelving, and lace curtains give the living room a friendly atmosphere. We are within walking distance of our famous Candy Store, the River View Restaurant, and the Beef Jerky stand. On the weekends, the River View Restaurant has live music. REDTAIL HOUSE Is a secluded View Home with wrap around deck and everything a discriminating couple or small family would want to relax, read, prepare meals, and sleep superbly. The Entry opens to the view of the private courtyard with private hot tub. Through the double french doors you will find the large, beautiful, modern Kitchen with island and dining table and seating for four. There you’ll find a well stocked pantry, coffee bar, my personal collection of local art and access to the deck with table and chairs, plus a propane grill and awesome cross-canyon views. Also off of the Entry you'll go up two steps to the very cute Library then pass through double french pocket doors to the Living Room complete with smart TV, Lazy Boy recliner, propane fireplace, piano, writing desk and more art. This sounds grand but it’s a small house that lives large. In the Primary Bedroom is outfitted with a fabulous Cal King bed, closet and chair as well as deck access. The bathroom, just off the hallway, has a wonderfully deep soaking tub with shower. The Second Bedroom has a very comfortable Murphy wall bed single, a chair, closet and another access to the courtyard. In that Courtyard you will find the private spa/hot tub perfect after a long day hiking in Sequoia. There is a separate Laundry Room off of the kitchen and primary bedroom that is well stocked with all the products you’ll need. There is a Tesla charger available for your use at Redtail Cottage (the guest house) and a “Teslatap” adapter for others. IMPORTANT: There are 17 rock steps from the parking to the house level that need to be considered making REDTAIL HOUSE inconvenient for guests with mobility issues.
