My sister stayed here for a month while undergoing major cancer surgery, and I booked a stay to come visit her and try to lift her spirits during recovery. Right before my trip, my son tested positive for COVID. I called immediately to cancel—there was no world where I was going to risk exposing her. They didn’t respond for a full day, and when they did, it was a hard no. No credit, no partial refund, no option to reschedule. Just policy. I get that policies exist. But this was a situation I couldn’t control and wasn’t willing to gamble with my sister’s health. The lack of flexibility, empathy and basic humanity here was honestly pretty disappointing. Just something to be aware of.
