Fordoun Hotel and Spa

My partner and I were fortunate enough to experince a magnificent stay at Fordoun over the past weekend. Driving into the estate is breathtaking, the eastern is beautifully kept, rolling green hills, the dam, massive trees and immaculate gardens. We were met with immediate service at the reception, I think we were welcomed by at least 10 staff members, all with the biggest smiles and happiest attitudes. We were taken to our room which we instantly felt comfortable in, the bathroom had a huge bath, marble surfaces, fluffy robes, delish coffee, the biggest and comfiest bed. We were pretty tired from traveling, the setting was intimate and beautifully put together. The view from our room looked over the rolling grass fields where the cows peacefully roam around. The room felt extra cozy as the midlands mist came in, we were warm and so welcome. Our culinary experience at Fordoun was outstanding to say the least. Focus is on locally sorced ingredients, served abundantly with the perfect balance of fine dining creativity. The bistro has an incredible wine list, beautiful fire places decorated in fine art pieces. Our waitrons were incredibly knowledgeable of the food and wine offerings, we needed for nothing. The highlight of our stay has to be the Fordoun Spa. Wow! Conveniently located and few meters away from the rooms. We felt like we had been transported to another little world, everything we experienced was preloaded with luxury. The therapists are intuitive as to what your body is needing, the massages were heavenly, the team so knowledgeable on the products the Spa uses. The Elliot Ndlovu products are made in-house, adding to the country, luxury, cultural experince. We arrived feeling pretty overwhelmed with life, we left feeling totally relaxed, so well fed and treated like absolute royalty. I would highly recommend that everyone experiences this at least once in their lives! Thank you team Fordoun, we cannot wait to return!

Booked a facial at Fordoun Spa. I was really dissapointed in the spa as the ladies locker room was untidy, small and needs an upgrade. The lockers weren’t prepared on arrival. The facial wasn’t relaxing at all as the therapist was noisy, felt disinterested, especially during the head message. Would I book a treatment there again? No, I won’t as there are other spa’s in the vicinity that provide a much better experience.

Sindi is an exceptional massage therapist and Zandile and Londeka will definitely make you feel at home with their warm, welcoming nature. Spa lovers will appreciate the variety of treatments, combining international ranges and uniquely African products made from Zulu traditional healing plants. The hotel's fine dining restaurant, Skye Bistro, serves gourmet cuisine prepared with seasonal farm produce and the freshest local ingredients. Their light lunch menu is sublime with great vegetarian choices and something to please just about every tastebud. Make sure you try their halloumi burger and sweet potato fries and their incredible dessert offering, Nompilo’s Cheesecake with berry coulis! The surrounding countryside, with its serene pastoral views, dams, and meandering trails, is perfect for walkers, cyclists, and fly-fishing enthusiasts. Overall, Fordoun Hotel & Spa offers a relaxing and rejuvenating experience with excellent service, beautiful surroundings, and delicious food. It's a perfect getaway for those looking to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the Midlands.
