Travelodge Ilminster

A very helpful manageress at Ilminster who allowed us to check in considerably early due to weather conditions disrupting our plans pre arrival....thankyou Sharon!spotless room, no5 easy secure access , linen and towels perfect and beds very comfortable. It is relatively cheap and basic but for just a nights sleep at 50quid for a family room its good. There was some noise but only because it is 20yards from the a303 which makes it v convenient for lots of locations.

First impressions count. Sharon welcomed me with a smile and was polite and professional. Early check in room well presented, fan already on as it was a warm day. Staff are always smiling and polite, even when there is a problem like a dead TV remote control.

We used this hotel in the past as it's within not far to travel to families we were going to visit. Unfortunately we missed the turn to it as the vegetation was not cut and it covered the sign of the hotel - exactly what we experienced last time. We got ground room No 7 which was opposite the crossing to Burger King and Greggs, car park and road where all vans servicing hotel and restaurants went in the morning. This means it is noisy but when you close the window it's OK. Unfortunately when it's hot weather like it was when we were there it's impossible to keep the window closed. There was a fan on the table but I am allergic to it or air-con so we don't use it. The hotel is a bit older but the bed had good mattress and, what I liked, better place to keep your clothes and luggage. Also the bathroom is a little bit bigger than the new or modernized hotels of this chain. We bought breakfast in the near-by Shell petrol station which was good. In total we paid for the room for 2 nights and 48 hour WiFi access £123. I think nowadays the hotel should not charge for internet access as it's absolute necessity to offer it to its guests. We will use this hotel again when we will go to visit our family next time.

We needed a convenient place to sleep and this was it. Clean, comfortable, quiet and only a short drive from the party we were attending. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a quiet ground floor room, on the “tree side” of the building. This meant that the natural light was limited, and may have contributed to the poor television reception. We were well supplied with towels. There is a small Greggs/Burger King next door where we went to have a ☕️🥤drink. Considering how hot the day had been, the room was pleasantly cool and well aired. No sign of any unwanted creatures, in spite of bugs being plentiful in the current warm, dry weather. Nor of neglectful cleaning that other people have mentioned. One bedside lamp was missing and no bulbs available at Reception. We slept well and felt rested next day, so we felt it was an ideal affordable place for an overnight stay. We went into Ilminster for breakfast (Kitchen on Silver Street)

I cannot rate the staff at this hotel highly enough. All the girls were lovely, helpful and kind; especially Sharon. Travelodge have a real gem in her.
