B&B Hotel Dortmund-Airport

Funktionales Hotel relativ nah am Flughafen.

酒店服務太差了，上午辦理入住，不讓提前就算了，行李也不給保管。反正下次肯定不住這家酒店了

We were satisfied with everything in this hotel: its parking, its location, room setting, simple room amenities, cleanliness, breakfast choices, WiFi connection, vending machine etc. The big disappointment was the receptionist (man) whom we found highly impolite to the point of him being close to harassing guests. We will get into detail as we don’t want to shame anyone. No surprise why the hotel got so many ‘terrible’ ratings. On the contrary, the breakfast lady receptionist was excellent and helpful, polite and efficient. We will not go back there and would probably avoid all other Ibis Budget hotels.

Was here on 4th November 2018. Very comfortable room, shower room was on the small side. The only sad thing is that there were no tea/coffee facilities and a kettle which I think all rooms should have. Also the sockets aren’t internationally friendly. I had to walk around for 1½ hours looking for a 2-pin adapter plug to buy to be able to charge my iPhone, which I couldn’t get from none of the many shops around. A Good Samaritan at the airport lent me his one to change my phone so I could access my boarding pass to return to London after missing my flight the night before. The hotel should have spears in case a customer needs one. There was no one at the reception desk to ask and the cleaner that I managed to somehow communicate in English with said to go downstairs to reception but no one was around. She was only there during breakfast and finding my name on the list was an problem as she hardly spoke a word of English. I think hotel staff should be coherent in English as it helps to communicate such issues effectively. Overall I like it here, loads of shops around and perfectly close to the airport; 10 min walk. Will be back again 🙂

I hesitate to give this hotel a 4 star rating because it is, after all, a budget hotel. It has the basics. A simple bed, a simple sink and toilet, and a simple shower. There's a small desk and good TV. That's it. It's bare bones. But it is clean and cheap, with good quality free WIFI. It is close to the Dortmund airport and autobahn. There is ample free parking. For its class, it was very good. It's not a place for a long stay as it is not very big. But it does the job. We did not regret staying here when other options were twice the cost, as we arrived near 10 pm and were gone before 9 am. Do note that there is an automated checking system after 10 pm and no desk staff. We would stay again.

This seems to be the only hotel in walking distance of the airport and with an early flight it was something like "Hobson's choice", Reading the reviews I was quite concerned and if the hotel was really bad we would have sat up all night in the airport. So what was it actually like on 24th October 2023? Well fine! We were met with a warm welcome and a smile by a nice friendly lady on reception when we booked in at 8:30pm. The key code to the door worked. The room was clean and everything worked ( well - no sink plug!). Water was hot, shower worked well, room was warm, location is quiet. Only downside was the single very thin pillow. There are no "built in" USB ports in the room and no kettle which I guess I expected. Morning check out was swift and we were seen off with a cheery "auf Wiedersehen!" We had breakfast at MacDoos (7-am opening) on the way to the airport (10/15 min walk). Dortmund Ibis Budget hotel seems to have used the same designer cues as NHS hospitals so Brits will feel right at home. Conclusion: Fine for an overnighter for an early flight, the undoubted problems reported earlier seem to have been addressed.
