We were staying in a holiday cottage two doors down from the pub and after reading reviews on here, decided to go for dinner. The menu is as you would expect, pie and mash, fish & chips, lasagne, mussels. I ordered pie & mash and my husband had the shin of beef. I can honestly say it was the best pie and mash I've ever had. Served simply with roasted carrots & kale, it was a hand raised pie (not the usual cop out of filling and a pie lid!) filled with tender beef, carrots and gravy. So simple but done beautifully. The atmosphere was lovely, fire roaring and service unpretentious.
