Anastasia Hotel Stalis

Just had an amazing holiday in the Anestasia hotel Crete, All the staff are so warm and friendly food amazing rooms cleaned daily and bed sheets and towels changed very good pool's plenty of sunbeds two kids pools plenty of brolly s for shade, can get snacks At dinner time from the pool bar which has plenty of variety, there are also TVs and a pool table, there's mini golf, basketball courts tennis court gym, All in all plenty to do for everyone, here's to next time, PS the jet2 rep's are Brilliant there's also options to rent items car's electric bike towels kettle plenty of parking

We were greated by a very pleasant man who took us to the Bar area where we were given a sandwich and Apple, we ordered drinks from the bar, We asked for water to take back to our room as we had to get our little girl to bed as it was late, We were offered 6 large bottles for just 2.50 euro which we put in our fridge which was great. Our room 105 was pleasant enough Yes it could do with being updated but it was cleaned to a High standard every day, Beds were very comfortable we slept well each night, Just a couple of issues... R Door wouldn't open a few times which scared us as if there was a fire we couldn't get out fast enough, we soon learned that if you lean against it while turning the key, it would open! We think doors & handles could definitely be updated. Air con wasn't the Best but we were comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. Breakfast was your usual holiday food, Hot & cold dishes available and enough choice for me being a vegetarian. Evening meal was nice, my Husband said the Different Meat's on offer were lovely, just 1 night there was no Hot choice for me (vegetarian) but I was happy with chips & salad dishes. There was not a lot of Desserts just a few cakes, ice cream & fruits which was fine for us. The pools & surrounding areas were very clean & plenty of sun beds no having to get up early to put your towels down 🙈 there was 3 pools so you can get a sunbed at any time of the day. The 1 area we thought could do with some attention is going into the Basket Ball court, the tiles are all broken which could potentially hurt a child if they were to fall. There are plenty of toilets doted around. The Bar area and staff was fab, my Husband loved that there was 2 Happy Hrs throughout the day, he would sit at the Bar talking to staff & other Guests,, Big shout out to Yanis, Georgio and Maria very pleasant and inviting, We ate dinner at the Bar area each day which was lovely. We met some lovely people there who have been going to The Anastasia for many years they told us some Great Bars & Restaurants along the *****,, There is loads to choose from, We ate out a few times which was lovely. We also went on the Train up into the mountains which was Beautiful, The Beach was close by 15mins which was Beautiful. Would we stay at The Anastasia again??? YES we're all booked to go back next July & we can't wait.

This is the 2nd year we have been to this hotel. The staff are all great here, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are all very friendly and polite and welcoming, In particular I would like to say a special thank you to Yuli and her team, Elias and his daughter Barbara and his son (who i didnt catch his name) Antonis and the doorman. The rooms we had were all spotless and modern the cleaning team were fantastic and made regular visits to all our rooms which was much appreciated! There was always plenty sunbeds and chairs round the pool and other areas. We used the bar regularly and bought breakfast and snacks daily ,food and drink were great and very reasonably priced There are plenty restaurants and bars and shops nearby and we would highly recommend a visit to the butcher restaurant next door, the food was amazing and Micheal was a fab host

Nice stay here at the anastasia hotel. Room are basic,food is ok but not much choice for my vegetarian wife so ended up eating out 4 nights out of the 7. Cleaners where nice and friendly so was the bar staff. My main choice for only giving 2 star was the fact we got kicked out of our room at 11am and we had a late flight getting picked up at 11pm transfer and reception was unable to let us get a shower anywhere apart from the one by the pool which wasn't the best as there was loads of ants in them and not the cleanest as they was getting used all day by the people at the pool👎 Apart from that ok for the price I guess u get what u pay for🤦

This was our 9th stay at the Anastasia. The hotel and staff are fantastic and all go out of their way to help you when needed. The accommodation and grounds are well maintained and clean. Some rooms could do with updating but are acceptable. Our only complaint was that there were a couple of unruly children (not English) who took delight in bombing people in the swimming pools. The management dealt with them though.

Just returned from a 2 week stay here at Anastasia.The Hotel seems very well run with efficient and friendly staff.Grounds and pool area cleaned and maintained to a high standard.Outside bar is very good with daily Happy Hours which are good value!Room very spacious(313) with a nice sea view.Shower cubicle not very big but powerful with red hot water.Large wardrobe space with draws and bedside drawers.Room cleaned daily apart from Sundays and towels and bedding changed regular.Air Con provided but a bit hit and miss.We preferred the breakfast buffet to the night buffet as we mostly ate out in Stalis but lots of choices to suit everybody-obviously not Michelin Star but generally decent. The few downsides to it if any are the location of the place and the sunbeds aren't very comfy but all-inall we really enjoyed our holiday here.

6th visit to our Cretan home. It really is such a wonderful feeling to come away and feel settled immediately and welcomed by 'family'. I was concerned that this year might be the last year for a while (yet have booked again for August! Yay!!! ), we holidayed last year and sad to say that 2023 seemed to be a hiccup year. There were many visual and culinary differences that caused a stir amongst repeat guests. Including ourselves. Gracefully, management took on board these differences and addressed them with either rectifying, improving or offering valid reasons as to why things were the way they were. The food in our 2023 stay was pretty poor, there seemed an unhappiness amongst staff, the impeccable cleanliness had taken a hit, the grounds were looking neglected. Fast forward to 2024 and I am delighted to share that this truly felt like a combination of old and new Anastasia. Food was plentiful and fresh, ample portions of actual tzaziki, good selection of foods that encompassed various cusines and at the heart of it a sense of Cretan culture. I was pleased to see on the food menu listings of the meals that contained gluten or dairy. The hotel isn't quite there yet with many Dairy free and Gluten free choices but noticeably this year the variety on offer in Stalis had also hugely improved. (Eat Geeek do an amazing 100% natural sorbet lolly and I hear that Sweet Stop also have dairy free choices so my daughter will be pleased for a trip there. There still remains a great choice of deserts, ice cream and fruit. You will not go hungry. Sun loungers have had an upgrade as have the parasols. Hints of the old Anastasia furniture can be seen which again for repeat guests is heart warming. New table and chairs around the bar area which was great to see and I only just resisted the urge for a vigil when i caught a familiar sight of the bamboo chairs stacked up ready to cross the rainbow bridge. Pool and pool area immaculately clean and tended to (which was amiss in 2023's hiccup). Bar staff friendly and efficient as ever George (tall George) is welcoming and very open to guest feedback. Please let him know what you are enjoying about your stay, he really is dedicated to offering a cultural relaxing stay (despite current world wide financial crisis and it's riple effect) Entertainment, ......now ..... as repeat guests I have to say that the family buzz around bingo, quiz and karaoke is and will only ever be felt at The Anastasia. Tony does such a wonderful job and I hope he will be there for many many years to come. The band are also really good, I hope that come August they will be received by more guests than I saw this year. I do feel that the reduction in entertainment allows for the guests to explore Stalis itself which is hugely important to its tourism. So I thank the Anastasia for giving guests that opportunity. Rooms: The rooms seem to vary in this hotel, I have visited before and the room previously was bigger, and a lot more modern. This time, our room was very outdated, up three flights of stairs and next to the noisy road so we requested to move which was dealt with well by the staff. Some rooms have a full sized balcony with shutter doors, others don’t have a balcony or any windows, which seems unfair when all standard rooms are the same price. The rooms were always clean, fresh bedding daily and the cleaners always tidied the room amazingly. A fridge is provided in the rooms which really comes in handy. It was difficult to get service/data in the room we were in. In the main reception/pool areas WiFi is available and works pretty well. Location: The location is good if you are ok with walking 10-15 minutes to local shops, restaurants, bars etc. 20 minute walk from malia which was great for us as young guests. To get anywhere you have to walk through an underpass which may be difficult with a pushchair/wheelchair. Hersonissos is also 10/15minute bus journey. Buses are regular and the bus stop is a 5/10 minute walk from hotel. Fairly close to Stalis beach, and lots of places to eat around there. Pool/facilities: The hotel has 2 full sized pools, and 2 smaller ones for kids. The pools were clean and big enough for the amount of guests. Safe for kids in the small pools and lots of sunbeds/seating around. No sunbed wars at all. The hotel was fully booked during our stay but there was still plenty of sunbeds available and the hotel never felt too busy which I was really happy with. Food: Breakfast was good. Standard continental breakfast with a lot to choose from. Drinks machine is provided at breakfast time. However we were shocked that at teatime you had to pay for drinks and the dispenser was taken out. Not sure if this is normal for half board, but I expected at least water to be available at teatime. Bar staff seemed very eager to get you to order drinks, and don’t like when you bring water bottles of your own. The nagged quite a lot for you to buy drinks. And also made you pay before bringing the drink, and it just disrupted mealtime. The wasn’t much options for teatime if you are fussy the basics are pasta, chips and salad. A lot of pork and meat, a vegetarian would struggle to have a decent meal. The desserts were also very underwhelming, simply ice cream and over ripe watermelon. The snack bar offered meals for lunch time, the prices were quite high and it was mainly just microwave meals such as toasties, pizzas, chips. Would definitely go out for lunch daily instead. Staff: Most of the encounters we had with staff were good. Barman and bar women were friendly and talkative. A bald man (think he’s the manager) walks round a lot during meal times and basically just looks at everyone which can be a bit intimidating and random. Konstantina and Leya were a great help to us when we had questions about buses etc, and were really approachable

Clean but basic hotel, old fashioned TV’s in room and 1 English Channel bbc news. Sunbeds are a plenty and no rush to get down early apart from breakfast and evining meal which is very hit and miss. 20 min walk to either stalis of malia. If I was to come back here I would just like b&b.
