Burton Hotel

Used the function room for an evening seminar. Staff were great. Both, happy and helpful .Nothing was too much trouble and the food we requested was excellent. Everything ran like clockwork , coffees, teas and biscuits served exactly on time.

We have stayed here a few times over the years. Unfortunately the room we were allocated this time, was room 2 - directly above bar and with a metal hotel sign drilled into the wall (which blows in wind all night and has this terrible scraping, banging noise) . At around 10pm we informed the night management, as it was too noisy to sleep. He wasn't very helpful or sympathetic and we were told there were no other rooms and he couldn't understand why it was noisy. ( Can't quite believe that). So we had no sleep at all. We decided if they couldn't move us the next day we would check out. Fortunately there was a much more helpful lady on reception the next morning, who got us moved. We feel they shouldn't allocate this room to anyone as it's so noisy it's a waste of money as you cannot sleep. The pool is lovely. Most staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is overall good, although my husband was given pork sausages on a vegetarian breakfast which he couldn't eat. I'm not sure if we will stay again.

We booked an 'easy acces' room because one of us is a wheelchair user. We were happy with the general condition of our room and enjoyed some time in the spa When we raised issues around accessibility of the room and amenities we were met with smiles and comments to say thanks for the feedback. No apologies .The below was raised with several members of staff but we were told it was an easy access room not an accessible room. Yet the website listing says it is wheelchair accessible . It is not fully accessible at all. . We asked for a partial refund as we could not access everything we paid for but staff refused and still no apology The deluxe easy access room had the following issues: -door to the building wich lead the the room was very heavy and had no auto opening so was v hard to open in a wheelchair. - the door to our room. Was very heavy to open - the sink was too high for a Wheelchair user and so toothpaste had to be spat into the toilet after tooth brushing -rusty wobbly shower seat and an uneven floor so water didn't drain properly -shower controls for temp and turning on and off were not with the shower but a meter away so out of reach once a wheelchair user has transferred to the shower seat. Not possible to adjust temp of shower or turn it off form seat. High isk of scalding therefore. -tea and coffee making facilities were above head height for a wheelchair user , on a bar height table -safe was on the top of the wardrobe totally out of reach -two beds pushed close together so unable to choose which side to transfer onto bed. -no mirrors at wheelchair height Other accessibility issues: -Lift to the gym and treatment rooms out of order so could not access these facilities at all. -wobbly chair in disabled change room and no shower seat - bench to narrow to transfer and change on in private so had to change stoma in the open in middle of female changing rooms where there was a wide bench. Some people would not access at all if unable to change stoma /pads privately as it requires full nudity for an extended period of time. This hotel did not appear to cate about equality for wheelchair users or even about privacy to meet medical needs. Being unable to be independent in the hotel room or spa did not make it easy access in any way. Especially for someone who is used to being fully independent. Had an apology been made or a partial refund it would be different but neither happened. It was like being far back in time and so sad that anyone still think this treatment of people is ok. When we left we were told we should have asked more. We had raised issues and no solutions or apologies were offered. Overall a humiliating experience for a wheelchair user

Excellent value and quality. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Whilst the menu is somewhat limited, there is something for everyone. The food quality is excellent and the service friendly and efficient., All round experience very positive. Highly recommended

We were a large golfing group staying three nights. Everything superbly arranged by The Burton and we were so well looked-after. Very good food which was always served promptly, by Superb staff, offering service with a smile! Many thanks.

Such a friendly bunch. From start to finish they made us feel welcome and relaxed. We ate in their restaurant and the food was great. I would eat there again without hesitation. Our room was basic but spacious and clean. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. Recommended.

One of the few hotels that deserves top ratings. Large light filled room that has good air flow via the open windows. Comfortable double bed with quality pillows. Separate toilet and basin from shower. Excellent shower with good water pressure. Tea/coffee facilities are available in the room. Excellent fitness centre including pool and sauna is attached to the hotel and is available for guests. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great cooked breakfast available from 7.15am. Hotel is located metres from the Offa's Dyke Path.

Stayed here for our first anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. We had a deluxe room so part of a new build at the back of the hotel with parking outside the room. Lovely food and drinks and a great welcome from Will and his team. The spa was fantastic, robes and slippers were provided. Sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool. The 10 hole putting green here was fun. Would recommend staying here.

We booked this hotel at short notice as wanted to revisit Hergest Croft nearby which we last went to in 1976. We had a deluxe room in the newer annexe and it was quite large,with big bed,sofa,ceiling fan and nice bathroom. Also we could park just outside the door. The staff were all very friendly. The food was not amazing but we had some nice meals in the restaurant. The pool was really good and the jacuzzi was lovely for my aches and pains after walking. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. It is used a lot by locals too .
