Pilgrim Hotel

Picturesque surroundings. Comprehensive penthouse with 1 queen bed, 2 single beds, living, dining, and kitchen. All the heaters are working except the queen bedroom and missing heater in the other bedroom. English breakfast and simple continental buffet with bread.

Suggested the Pilgrim for my neighbours after funeral refreshments. Everything was good, staff were amazing and Trevor ensured we were all well cared for. Food was lovely,presented well and the views off the patio outside area were uplifting for us all. Thank you Trevor for your attention to detail... brilliant. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is set high up south of Hereford with a 270 degree far Black Mountain and valley view of incomparable loveliness . The rooms are maintained to a high standard and the staff are friendly and hard working. Our dinner was first class and presented with real professionalism and care although it came only after a long wait: if you are there at a busy time eat early. Breakfast was cooked to order with similar precision. Prices are very reasonable. Recommended.

We always stop there for a meal and a break for us and two dogs on the way to Shropshire. They are always friendly and obliging. Welcoming to the dogs and nothing is too much trouble. They Don mind even we are only stopping for coffee and we haven't booked!

Another great stay at The Pilgrim, our fourth visit. A wonderful welcome, really friendly staff & very good breakfast with lots of selection. Saturday night was a bit noisy due to there being birthday parties but the noise died at midnight. A special mention must go to Sarah the breakfast waitress, she was truly wonderful, a real ray of sunshine in the mornings. She really was the icing on the cake of our stay! Even though The Pilgrim is situated very close to a busy main road the hotel itself is an oasis of peace, a great place to stay.

The Pilgrim is a very nicely located hotel between Hereford and Ross and has a large car park easily accessible on the main road. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient even when busy and are a pleasure to deal with. The evening meals are delicious and expertly cooked, the lamb and the chicken tikka are particularly noteworthy. A good selection of wine and local beers and ciders are available too together with nationally known brands. Rooms are spacious, very clean and well equipped with lovely views over the valley to the distant hills from rear facing rooms. The soundproofing from outside noise and from the road is really good and no traffic noise issues. The only downsides are that the internal soundproofing is not so good and creaking floors can be a nuisance as can plumbing noises which detracts from the overall sleep quality if you're next to or under early risers or frequent movers. Breakfast food is well cooked although a little limited in choice and the self service beverages and toast tend to make for a 'busy' feeling with people constantly walking about topping their drinks/toast up. A nice choice of fruit juices and variety of teas although the coffee was not so great but that may have been just an off day. Overall a good place to stay if you're visiting the area and the good points definitely outweigh the few less good points.

My husband and I dine quite regularly at The Pilgrim and often bring friends and family members too and I felt it was high time to give the whole team a rave review: We are never disappointed ... from the welcoming greetings from all the front of house staff, to the dedication, professialism and helpfulness of the Manager, Trevor (who never seems to take any time off!) the caring efficiency of the waiting staff and the superb food provided by chefs Deepak and Colin, who are always willing to tweak their dishes to suit individual tastes or desires! Deepak's awesome authentic Indian cuisine never fails to delight (and the recent Indian feast night was fantastic - no wonder it was a sell out) as does Colin's fish (lightly battered to order). We are thoroyghly enjoying gradually working our way through the new menu! Top of my 'sweet' compliments must go to the awesomely dense chocolate brownie (I had my served chilled and it was literally the best everrrr) and the fluffiest sticky toffee pudding with a sauce to die for. Stayed here quite a few times with my husband, this time with my daughter for mother & daughter time. Had a fantastic time as normal. Beautiful room garden suite sat outside with a drink and only had a snack has my daughter had booked a picnic bench tea somewhere else months in advance. Saw people having an afternoon tea at the hotel, which looked delicious. Never had a bad meal all the times I've stayed. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble if you have a problem. Even being told by a member of staff when she realised it was me I'd made her day. Because of the previous times we've stayed. Will be going back again at some point this year, which will be 3 times this year. Lovely views, peace, and quiet.
