Skeiding Guest Farm

As this guest house has been recommended by some friends our expectations were quite high. Furthermore we had just spent some days in a great ostrich farm which did not have any ostriches any more but still very beautiful buildings. The bungalows in Skeiding are spacious but could do with some renovation.Still, they are okay. For dinner we got ostrich and steak, prepared on an indoor grill. That was fine. Se did not really get to meet the owners - the man just came to the dining room to open a bottle of champagne in the spectacular way with a sword for a friend, the wife was setting in front of the reception without saying a word. So, after all, nothing wrong with the stay, but we won't go there again.

The view was amazing. Sone our guide, was knowledgeable and welcoming, making sure that everyone was well taken care of ( as well as being an excellent chef!). The owner was passionate and gave us great insights into life on the farm. Our morning tour of the farm with Sone and two staff members was fun! We fed the ostriches, and saw zebra, emus, springbok, sheep, pigs, chickens, cows and so much more, followed by a delicious farm breakfast. Thanks to all!

We can not share the enthusiasm 100%, although it was nice. The staff was accommodating and the breakfast and dinner were fantastic. However, we found the price for dinner quite expensive. The farm tour was also expensive and the cost was only seen on the final bill. The cottages were very nicely located and have a great view but are quite used and not particularly clean. All in all a nice stop, but we would not have missed anything if we had left it out.
