The Merry Harriers

Lovely warm and enthusiatic welcome from Yana who insisted on carrying my bags and showed me to my garden room. Unfortunately, the first room had a plumbing issue but Yana quickly resolved this by giving me another room instead. The room was compact but really comfortable with tea/coffee/hot chocolate and homemade shortbread to welcome me, lovely bedding, plump pillows and luxurious toiletries. Breakfast wasn’t available on Tuesday mornings but I’d been phoned up and warned about this in advance so I was prepared (there isn’t a fridge in the room though and I’m not sure one would fit). Breakfast on the Wednesday was pre-ordered the night before and the full English was really lovely with quality bacon, chipolatas and chef’s own homemade hash browns (wish I’d asked for the recipe!) All the staff are lovely and I was really pleased to see how much it had improved after a pretty dire visit a few years ago but this team under new ownership seemed to have nailed it with great customer service and a desire to please. I suggested they might consider providing a breakfast hamper (with access to a fridge, maybe in an outbuilding) for days they can’t provide breakfast and the gentleman who checked me out thought that idea was worth exploring - I hope they will as it would have made my stay 100% perfect!

This pub is in an absolutely idyllic location, just stunning. It's full of character with a lovely garden as well. We stayed for 1 night in the inn itself; great room, really comfortable. Food was superb for both dinner and breakfast. Great selection of beers and wines. The staff really make this place; all exceptionally helpful and so polite. From recommending wines to providing a walking map, they go out of their way for you. Our first stay here, we'll definitely be returning!

We stayed for one night as we were attending a friends party nearby. We had beautifully cosy room (very comfy bed!), a delicious breakfast and the staff were really welcoming. I’m only sad we didn’t get to try the supper menu as it looked fab and the pub had a great atmosphere.
