Malala Retreat

We had a really wonderful time at the Malala Retreat with our group of 12 friends. Chef Fazal was very friendly and helpful, his staff was was very good as well. The swimmingpool was a welcome treat, but the most beautiful was the breathtaking view from the pool and the restaurant, a huge variety of animals did their very best to amuse us. We surely would recommend Malala Retreat to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay at Malala Retreat. It was peaceful and they made all the arrangements for the safari at Bundala national park. The pool was really nice. A big credit to the chef and hotel manager Fazal who made our experience 10 times better.

This is a truly beautiful place and perfect for anyone interested in birds. There were more than 25 species to delight us, including Brahminy kites nesting in the trees and parrots overhead. The pool is spotless and overlooks field and a small lake. So peaceful The rooms are very well appointed, comfortable and spotless. Nothing was too much trouble for the chef/manager and his team. The food was excellent also and an extensive choice of both Sri Lankan and European dishes. We had the hotel almost to ourselves and we are surprised that more people have not chose to stay there. It is a bit off the beaten track but this is its charm. We would thoroughly recommend it to those who like to be surrounded by Nature and comfort at the same time.

Malala Retreat is de perfecte plek als je de drukte wilt ontsnappen. De kamer is van alle gemakken voorzien: prima bed, schone badkamer met een fijne douche, een koelkastje en een goede airco. Vanaf het dek bij het zwembad heb je prachtig uitzicht en kun je goed vogels en apen spotten. We hebben hier al zo’n 20 soorten vogels gezien. In de vijver zitten wat kikkers en schildpadden. In de bomen apen. Erg leuk. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en verzorgt de retreat perfect. Ze staan ook voor je klaar om vragen of verzoeken te behandelen. Srikanth de chef heeft heerlijk voor ons gekookt, is creatief met het menu en denk met de gasten mee. en is ook nog eens goed gezelschap. Dank voor de goede zorgen Srikanth! Voor ons was het de uitvalsbasis om Bundala park te bezoeken. Voornamelijk omdat dit park bekend staat om de diervriendelijke safari’s. Dit is met Srimal Safari goed gelukt. Op Malala Resort denkt men hier ook over mee. Wij hebben Yale Park overgeslagen omdat het hier niet om de dieren, maar om de toeristen draait. De eigenaren van Malala Retreat hadden tips om Yale op een diervriendelijke manier te bezoeken (ingang 5). Voor ons kwam de tip te laat, maar doe er vooral je voordeel mee. Aanrader!
