*BEST HOTEL IN HAIKOU* Our family of six (2 elders, 2 kids, and 2 adults) stayed post conference to participate in an Expo which the venue is next door. It was an amazing stay and one of the best family hotels we have stayed in our travels around the world. The pool is a major feature, with play areas for the kids and hot spa pools for the adults. All the staff from the check-in, to concierge, cleaning crew, restaurants were always cheerful, helpful and accommodating to our family which was amazing as we hardly spoke chinese but they always made the effort to speak English to assist us. The concierge Mr Wade in particular was a star! it was my son's birthday and he sourced a birthcake and arranged for a free family photoshoot on the beautiful hotel grounds. The hotel architecture was in the Tang Dynasty style I was told. The breakfast at the Island Bistro is one of the most extensive and tasty I have ever had. The executive lounge is worth the extra budget, the evening drinks and snacks were also taste and healthy. Our family hung out at the lounge most of the evening and the Executive Lounge staff were always friendly and helpful. Overall a 10*** experience, we would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

Haikou Marriot is location by the beach offering a 100% view of the ocean with mainland China clearly visible from my balcony. The front reception staff was friendly and helpful eapecially Ms Miranda who constantly checked on my well beings and needs. I can’t fault anything wrong with her service and attentivnes throughout my 4 day stay at Haikou Marriot. I look forward to staying there again in my future visits to this beautiful city

Great hotel resort, big swimming pool. Service is very good

The hotel room only available at 5pm+ when we check in, so we have to wait for awhile at the lobby together with the welcome drink. Breakfast is just average even there are many choices. Pools are superb as there are 2 location with onsen pool as well. However, there is no private beach as thus one have to cross the road opposite the hotel to the beach. Concierge, lobby and room service staff are accomodating. Location is ok as there is a big shopping mall (yuanda) which didi is convenient.

Good service. I’m really appreciated of service mind of staffs here.They managed the room and the service immediately without letting us wasting time.the room and view are nice as well.

The hotel staff are not helpful and they didn’t speak English and the service very bad

The room is spacious and clean, facilities is maintained very well. Bravo to Xiao Mai who provide me begin to end personal service. The buffet breakfast and dinner are satisfying which allow us to taste all type of local specialities. And the little fresh made bread serve during the buffet are cute and delicious. Thanks to the F&B team and the lady staff who assist us on member promo rate in the buffet restaurant, the whole team are friendly and helpful.

Went off peak season, always choose marriot for its kids club and quality rooms.

We stayed in Marriot Haikou for 2 nights and were very pleased. Apart from the unique building architecture which was the reason when we chose this hotel, we were surprised to know that there was butler tagged to our room, who was always checking out on us. There were many other front & kitchen staff who were attentive and went extra mile to make sure that we were comfortable and welcomed. Definitely a nice hotel to return to.

The hotel room is in bad condition, peeled off wallpaper, and the bed is too soft. Had problem getting out of bed as bed is uncomfortable. I would recommend Ben, he gave us great service when we were there.

Breakfast had a vast selection, but none of it was very good. The sushi would make a Japanese person cry, the sausages and bacon would make an English person cry and you would get a better Chinese breakfast for 10RMB at a local market (baozi and yotiao are from frozen). The main reason for choosing this hotel over other options was the kids club. Unfortunately it is rubbish. A single member of staff doing some origami with leaves or basic art/craft. Requires adult supervision. Very disappointing by international standards. Hotel is very grand, but not maintained to the standard you would expect from the brand. Design of the hotel does not lend itself to Haikou's climate, the communal spaces are not aircondionable and so it is uncomfortably hot. Pool was good, but again needs maintenance. Children especially enjoyed the foam cannon. Room was spacious, clean and cool. Coffee is good. At the time of writing they offer "good night" as a free gift which is a lavender spray. They also offer a free drink on arrival - which just means help yourself to a drink from the fridge in your room. Overall I would recommend paying a bit less and going with a newer hotel closer to the city.
