Higganum House B&B

This is a great B&B with wonderful hospitable hosts who made us feel at home. The house is in a quiet location and is both charming and unique. It's a comfortable cosy home with a relaxed feel and a sense of history. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

This is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in the historic town of Higganum CT. The property is surrounded by historic homes, beautiful natural scenery, and a general New England atmosphere. I have stayed here during three summers, and the Spirit of 76 house has acted as a home away from home. The hosts are very gracious and the space is simple but elegant. It feels lived in and very much a part of family history. There are multiple rooms, and I have stayed both upstairs and downstairs. The bathrooms are up to date and the beds are comfortable. The rooms also have window a/c for use during the summer. The open room where breakfast is served is out of a different time. It feels like a historic sitting room, or larger dining room. The ceilings are high and the table is large. There are books about the area, a very cool old stereo with interesting records, and a nice fireplace. Breakfast is available, the dishes are clean, and the coffee machine is always ready to rock. The whole space feels like a home and the character is quite charming. The property is beautiful and there is a nice reservoir a short walk away. The whole house has a quaint feel despite its large size, and the B&B offers a quiet getaway in the middle of a truly wonderful area.
