The Bonnie Badger

Loved everything about the Bonnie Badger. Have stayed at many wonderful hotels in Scotland and it’s one of my favorites. Hotels are very expensive in Scotland and I think we’ve become a bit numb as to the prices, but, compared to comparably priced hotels from Dornoch to Glen Coe to Aberdeen to Fife, the Bonnie Badger is top notch. Loved the comfort of the bed, the shower, the delicious food, and especially the staff. Also much prefer it to the other top rated hotel in lovely Gullane. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved it. We spent the night at the Bonnie badger and from the moment we walked through the door the whole experience was fantastic. All the staff working there are great from the warm welcome when checking in to the attentive staff in the restaurant. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Made to feel very welcome The food was exceptional not only in the evening but the following morning at breakfast. Honestly can’t recommend it highly enough and I can’t wait to go back

Food was great, service efficient and the atmosphere was good. The food was delicious. I had the French onion soup which had good depth of flavour and sweetness. The grilled prawns were gorgeous, I loved the addition of the sourdough that mopped up the flavour of the prawns. My husband had the haggis bon bon and the Wagyu burger again all very good. The wine list is excellent. We ate in the bar which was around 75% full on a week day lunch time so it had a good vibe. Would definitely go back and recommend.

We stayed here for one night. Room was small for a delux compared to other places we have stayed with limited hanging / drawer / shelf space for your things however there are lots of nice little touches within the room that probably pushes the price point to where it is. Staff were polite but they never quiet reached friendly and welcoming. Food served in the evening and at breakfast was of a high standard.

My daughter bought me a voucher fMy daughter bought a voucher for afternoon tea for my 60th Birthday. When asked if we'd like tea?, coffee?, hot chocolate? Or something else, I answered earl grey and my daughter opted for hot chocolate as she drinks neither tea nor coffee. We went on to thoroughly enjoy our meal with my daughter opting for juice when we were asked if we'd like anything else to drink. She was shocked to discover the hot chocolate and juice were charged as extra...£12. I unfortunately was at the toilet when she was given the bill so never found this out till later. I am very disappointed to find out she was charged for this as these drinks had been offered as if they were an alternative to tea. I've never come across this before. 😔

Arrived for a family birthday lunch having booked in advance for a 1430 table. Drinks order taken giving time to view the menu. Orders given for food along with dietary requirement questions answered. Our meals took over an hour to arrive with poor serving to the table and sides were warm or cold. Food was ok but had expected better, drinks had to be reminded to come along with other side orders. Overall experience was not great which comes down to training your staff to perform to the standards you set this is not the case at the Bonnie Badger.

We were sitting in the lovely courtyard, hoping for morning coffee and homemade scones. The waitress was slow and unfriendly. The coffee came long before the scones therefore, by the time I received my scone my coffee was cold. To make matters worse, my scone was frozen in the middle. They were prepping for an event, but they were quiet and there was enough staff so there was no need for such poor service.

Great stay . warm welcome we had an attic room which was vey quiet and comfortable. Nice touch of cookies & lemonade outside our door on our return from supper . Food was great and service good Breakfast also was great happy to to return any time !

We loved everything about our stay! The check was warm and friendly. The room was gorgeous. Fabulous new seafood platter in the garden followed by excellent cocktails in the bar. The breakfast was outstanding. It’s pricey but worth it. The service was attentive and relaxed. I have very high standards when I’m spending this kind of money and I was not disappointed. I really can’t understand the complaints from recent guests - especially the woman complaining about the price of wine she didn’t check before ordering. We can’t wait to return - and we’ll bring friends.
