We rented a 6-bd home through Eagle Ridge Resort (unit 605) for our 3 families (12ppl). It was a nice home with plenty of space and entertainment (TVs, game room w/ pool and air hockey tables, cards, board games) for our group. The house was older but in pretty good shape. Fixtures and some decor were a little dated and the walls and floors were a little thin so you could hear what was going on in the rest of the house. Big kitchen and dining area with 12-person table. Large family room with recliner sofas and easy chairs. Full-size washer and dryer, on-demand water heater, 2 coffee makers, and TVs everywhere. Kitchen was well equipped but missing some important items, like a frying pan, baking sheets and a few other items, so we had to make a Walmart run on the first morning. Lots and lots of cooking utensils, but not a lot of forks or bowls for some reason. No condiments besides a lot of salt and pepper shakers, and sugar and creamer packets (with the coffee making items). As with any rental, bring whatever you might need for your stay! Minor inconveniences included no pull-out sofas (most homes here have at least 1); long uphill walk from driveway to front door, with big steps; and bedroom configurations for 2 rooms were incorrectly listed on website (though total # beds were correct). Also, there is a hot tub but it is only accessible from one bedroom on the lower level, and it's far enough away from the house to not want to use it in the winter - though it's so inconvenient that I probably wouldn't ever want to use it. But unfortunately you are required to pay a daily fee for the hot tub regardless of whether you use it or not. The major issue we had during our stay was that the rooms on the lower level (3 out of the 6 bedrooms) were drafty and did not heat nearly as well as the main and upper floors. After the first night, we found that the ceiling-mounted vent was completely closed in one room and partially open in another. But despite being fully open and the heat left on all day, the rooms failed to warm up significantly AND the rooms on the main floor were too hot even though we closed all the vents. Maintenance brought us space heaters for the 2 colder rooms and this helped, though one room still was not warm enough for us to sleep in and a few of the kids ended up having to sleep in the family room on non-pullout sofas. Renting a privately-owned house through Eagle Ridge Resort (as opposed to AirBNB/VRBO/etc.) gave us access to all the amenities of the resort AND the Galena Owner's Club, including a shuttle around the Territory and to downtown Galena. The front desk and maintenance were very responsive to our HVAC issue and helpful, even though the issue wasn't able to be fully resolved. We were also able to get extra sheets and towels quickly when we needed it, and did not have to deal with trash disposal or cleaning when we left. Overall we had a great time, even though the heating issue and not being able to use one bedroom
