The Holroyd Arms

My stay at Holroid Arms Hotel in Surrey was excellent. The staff was welcoming, the room was comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. The hotel’s location was convenient, and the on-site restaurant served delicious meals. I highly recommend it for a pleasant stay in Surrey.

Desperately needs a clean. Bathroom was dirty, dirty walls, mould around the shower tray, cobwebs, fan filter filthy, fan wouldn't go off, faulty light, no toilet roll holder, no hot water at the sink, no soap or hand towels, towel rail looked ready to fall off the wall. Side of bed stained, chair dirty, even the TV screen was dirty. We were advised we could check in after 1:00pm, place was locked up and couldn't get hold of anyone by phone until after 3! Loud music from the on site club, and disturbed by people talking loudly at the tables positioned right outside our window. Was cheap but that's all that can be said for it

Stayed a couple of nights in the week. Had a very satisfying stay there. The room was very comfortable and better than I expected for the price. Had a few drinks in the pub and had a good laugh with the staff. Andy was very accommodating and his wife Lisa is lovely. They make a good team. Will definitely stay there again if I go to Guildford on business again

No breakfast. We booked believing from the various websites that this establishment offered breakfast, this is not the case. Outside there is also a sign stating B & B. One has to go to a cafe for breakfast or as we did, drove to a Tesco for a bacon bap. On arrival the lady who greeted us was very pleasant and warm. The people in the bar area were male contractors, who from conversation stayed at Holroyd Arms frequently and were quite lively in a nice way. Suspect they are the main customers of the business. Also seems to have quite a few live music nights. The room was appeared clean but some of the items listed as being available were missing e.g. toiletries, hairdryer. The toilet roll holder was missing off the wall. The duvets were thin and there were no pillow protectors under the pillow cases or proper mattress protectors. We did inspect the pillows carefully. Heating was good. The walls are quite thin and we could hear a person snoring in the next room. When looking for a hairdryer, my husband open a storeage area in his bed base and he said the interior was not clean. We had to ask for extra tea bags and milk only two bags and milk in room on arrival. The evening meal on the first night caribbean food was on offer. It was very good, having goat curry with rice, fried cabbage and plantain. The second evening my husband had a pie with mash and peas, it was passable. I had a burger and it was very nice. The burger itself was juice. Whoever the chef/cook is/was are good. The bar area is all very high (elbow height) tables and high stools not very comfortable. This establishment is not set up to cater for families or disabled. The staff are warm but we would not stay here again. We felt we had been mislead by the advertising on various booking sites and we were not told about no breakfast when we booked directly with the establishment.

Booked a room here because it was cheap, my wife and I were going to see Sarah Millican in Guildford and just wanted a place to crash. First impressions were that its a good bar with friendly locals and staff and well kept beer. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, lovely fluffy towels. The food looked good so we ate at the Holroyd rather than go out in town and it was delicious. After the Millican gig we came back instead of drinking in town, again because we liked the place, quality live music going on, had an excellent night. Would definately stay here again if we're back in the area and have even discussed coming up for a weekend break. Really good quality, really good value.

Went to the Holroyd for an evening of live music and decided to stay over. The room was clean and tidy and the hosts Lisa and Andy were excellent. The bar had been recently refurbished and it looks great, a perfect place for live music. The pub garden is also a nice place to chill out complete with outside bar. The only downside was the number of Happy Hammers around but you can't have everything :-)
