Royalton Saint Lucia Resort

This was overall a good holiday with a few negative issues. We were on the “ordinary” AI package. Good ~ majority of staff friendly and helpful. Room was large , clean & comfortable. Block 4 so nice & quiet with lovely views. Beautiful gardens We had no issues with dining ~ breakfast & lunch in the buffet were always good although the drink/ coffee service was a bit hit & miss. We had no problems booking evening meals at the restaurants using the app , the steak house was our personal favourite. No issues at all with drinks - loads of choice! The pool area by the hotel is nicer and quiet. Negatives ~ this is sold as 5* , unfortunately there are a number of issues that in our opinion don’t warrant a 5* rating. The layout & design of the hotel mean that there are no “quiet areas” to sit in the evening with friends to drink & chat. Our evenings were at times spoilt with blasting karaoke & loud music. Sun bed cushions are horrendous, stained & ripped. We would have at least 3 towels each on them. Beach maintenance is non-existent, quite a bit of rubbish left by inconsiderate people. Sun bed cushions need to replaced with wipe down versions , collected & stored away overnight and not left out to be rained on. A lot of them have bird droppings on them A daily rake of the beach to take up rubbish, cigarette ends etc would be good. Very loud music from the large pool spoils the sunbathing on the beach - we don’t mind a bit of background music but it was incessant and at times not especially appropriate and incredibly loud. We had a good holiday but there were issues. We would recommend because the good outweighed the bad !

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK What you expect from an all-inclusive resort is subjective. People who state “Don’t believe the bad reviews” or “disregard the haters” or even the positive reviews as subjective based on the expectations and experiences of the consumer. If you go in not expecting much, with no real experience traveling, you might find the Royalton St. Lucia a great place to stay and nothing I write after this will make any difference. HOWEVER, if you are like me, and have traveled to many resorts and vacation destinations…. keep reading. ABOUT St. Lucia: St. Lucia is a typical island once governed by a larger country. Like those many other islands, once given rule over their own lands, the infrastructure along with the people…suffer. I am not saying that whatever country owned St. Lucia didn’t mess it up. I am simply stating that like most tropical islands, poverty and infrastructure issues are rampant. St. Lucia is about twice the size of a large American city yet due to its topography, traversing the hills, mountains and switchbacks makes getting anywhere, dangerous. This includes going from the small and very disorganized airport to any resort. A two-hour nausea inducing ride through these poverty-stricken areas on the way to your resort is normal. You can catch a helicopter from the airport to your resort for about $200 US. Another note before I get to the “lovely” Royalton resort…. If you have young kids or are sensitive to dead or dying animals, keep your eyes closed on the way to your resort. Basically, the beautiful landscapes strewn with trash, sinkholes and open sewers are filled with scenes from a never ending ASPCA please donate commercial. It is a sad way to start and end a vacation. ABOUT THE RESORT: …this affiliate of the Marriot group is 3 separate hotels on one resort. You have the Regular Royalton, Diamond club Royalton (buildings 7/8) and the Hideaway Royalton Building 1 and I think also 2. The latter 2 being adults only. This resort is a typical all inclusive and frequent vacationers will understand what I mean by that. Rooms come in several flavors with some swim out, some one bedroom, etc. Again, typical all-inclusive design and upkeep. You will see dirty surfaces, broken amenities, patched together pieces. Some will justify this as “its an island and getting items are not as easy”. This is false and typical lazy view of the Royalton management. Broken curtains, slapped together room parts are commonplace here. Certainly nothing Royal. Let’s be fair, most all-inclusive resorts in this mid-tier category suffer the same problems. The pools, entertainment and dining options are nothing new to those who frequent the all-inclusive resort vacation. One buffet for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner with several other specific options depending on your room level. BUTLERs. If you booked a room with Butler service, congrats as you have just wasted money. The Royalton St. Lucia does not understand what Butler service means

Firstly, IGNORE the bad reviews and book it!! We have had the most amazing family holiday (young couple with a small baby) at the Royalton. The view and weather was to die for, and we soaked up so much of paradise while here. Drinks are unreal, especially the cocktails. I’m a Pina Colada snob and theirs are too tier. Restaurants are really easy to book on the app and we are at every single one each night. If we couldn’t get a table on the app we just spoke to the lovely ladies outside of the buffet and they booked us the restaurant we fancied. We found the Zen A la Carte was the best night and we had phenomenal food. Our chef, ✨Marvin✨ provided us the most delicious food and we were served by ✨Shona✨ and ✨Charlene✨ who were both beautiful servers and so friendly and kind. They really made our experience perfect and even went and got mash potato from another restaurant for our baby! As well as the restaurants, the buffet is great. Everything you could possible want and the staff very attentive - shout out to ✨Kirton✨ who sings every morning and provides and exceptional service. He is the friendly face you want to see every morning! He also did a special cooking class and we had fried fish that he cooked on the beach and it was - chefs kiss! Wow. All of the entertainment staff were extremely friendly and made such an effort with everyone, even coming and fussing our baby multiple times a day and being genuinely interested and kind. We based ourselves in between the between and the main pool most days and it was perfect. Special mention to ✨Elijah✨ who gives the towels out on the beach - he bonded with my husband from day one and even took part in gym classes with him to support him. He’s so friendly and a welcoming happy face to see each day. There is a fantastic gym on site, and they offer classes each day inside the gym and also do an amazing water aerobics session in the main pool. This was super fun and there must have been 40 people joining in each day. Special shout out to ✨Bell✨ and ✨Cornell✨ in the gym - they’re so knowledgable and passionate about their jobs and provided boot camp and beach fitness sessions for my husband and myself and pushed us loads to succeed. Absolute first class. Lastly, we did a trip to the street party on a Friday - must do!! Try to ignore all of the bad reviews. Of course there will be small pockets of things that people complain about but we honestly thought it was absolutely brilliant - I think people just want something to whinge about. We have stayed in so many beautiful 5 star hotels and we would really rate our experience. I’m honestly shocked seeing the reviews as every member of the team that we met was just great. Airport transfer was longer than we thought and check in was a little chaotic but not the hotels fault so just expect that. ‍♀️ All in all, stunning week. Loved it.

I had high hopes for the Royalton St. Lucia, but unfortunately, my stay fell short of expectations. The room I was assigned had a door hanging off the ledge and couldn’t close or lock properly—a significant safety and security concern. Maintenance was slow to respond, which only added to the frustration. The food was another disappointment. The same options were repeated daily, and some of them tasted as if they had been reheated from previous days, especially the rice. Additionally, no gloves were used during food preparation. There was a noticeable lack of freshness and variety, which made dining feel more like a chore than a pleasure. The resort itself lacked energy and ambiance. Few employees were visible or available to assist, and the atmosphere felt oddly vacant of leadership. To make matters worse, several elevators weren’t working, which made getting around the property difficult, especially for anyone with mobility concerns. And forget about recharging electronics—the common areas had no accessible power outlets. In today’s world, that’s a serious oversight. Overall, the poor service, low-quality food, and lack of basic functional amenities made this stay one I wouldn’t repeat at the Royalton. St. Lucia is beautiful, but this resort fell short of delivering even a basic standard of comfort or hospitality. As a St. Lucian native, this place gives SLU a bad look.

Disappointing Stay at Royalton St. Lucia – Would Not Recommend Let me start by saying that St. Lucia is a stunning island breathtaking views, rich culture, and beautiful people. Unfortunately, the Royalton St. Lucia resort experience was the complete opposite of what we expected, especially for such a special occasion. We were there for a wedding, and the hospitality and service were shockingly poor. It often felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by being there, rather than being treated like valued guests. The wedding coordinators, Sharon and Kersandra, were especially unprofessional and dismissive. Kersandra, in particular, spoke to guests many of whom were simply seeking guidance with blatant disrespect. She showed no sense of care or urgency, and even the rehearsal had to be put together by the wedding party themselves, due to a complete lack of coordination. The best man was forced to take on multiple roles to fill in for what the coordinators failed to do. What should have been a joyful and exciting time was instead filled with stress and frustration for the bride and groom. Now for the resort itself… We paid for the Diamond Club expecting an elevated experience, but instead were constantly hassled and questioned, even when on what was supposed to be the private beach. The food was repetitive and subpar the same options every day for six days, with barely any variation. Dining at the hibachi restaurant was especially uncomfortable, as the staff (excluding the chef) were shockingly rude. The list could go on from poor communication to inconsistent service but the overall takeaway is that this trip left a very sour taste. I truly wanted to love this stay and create lasting memories in a beautiful place, but I cannot recommend Royalton St. Lucia at all. It simply fell far below expectations in every meaningful way.

This was the perfect honeymoon destination! The attention to detail was amazing! I strongly suggest adding the butler service. Ferna and Niel were so accommodating. They were always checking in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. No request was too big or too small! We honestly can't say thank enough for the perfect honeymoon!
