The Lamb Inn

We tried to book a meal before our stay but we're told that the restaurant had a table of 20 booked in so they couldn't accommodate any more. We asked for a call back in case there were any spaces. On the evening we saw the large table booking but the rest of the restaurant was empty, the bar was very quiet too. Barman was lovely and friendly. We then saw some people ordering bar food which wasn't suggesting to us at any time. When enquiring to the manager? we were told they had booked way in advance. Not sure I believe that. Room was tiny and nothing special although very clean. door handle on bathroom is about to fall off! Breakfast is not included which is unfortunate as it wasn't a cheap booking and it's very isolated. Just felt like they didn't really want our custom and we were treated with indifference and not as a valued guest.

Charming traditional village pub and restaurant. Carefully prepared freshly cooked food. Breakfast exceptional. Clean and cosy rooms with everything you need for a relaxing stay, bed very comfy. Would highly recommend. Very close to Stowe and Bourton.

Newly refurbished and raring to go……….The rabbit pie was excellent and Brakspears Gravity was just terrific. Great cask conditioned ale and nice lux country pub vibe……….. Kathleen & Elliot now in charge, lovely friendly welcome…………………

I was there on first night of reopening after the refurbishment, and despite numerous challenges, Kathleen and Elliott did an amazing job! Rooms are super comfy and food excellent. Cozy, clean and friendly - all the staff were great. Just make sure you arrange transport in advance from the train station if using - it is not easy to get a taxi when there!

We have visited this wonderful inn numerous times over the last 20 years whilst visiting the Cotswolds. We stopped off today for lunch. It was very quiet and we ordered our food - which was exceptional as usual. However it seems that this lovely place has been sold to a brewery and will be closing down on 1st Sept for refurbishment. An end of an era! It is a shame, but I hope the new tenants will still offer a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere and the food will continue to be good value and first class 'pub grub'. If anything needs to change - then please let there be table service for ordering food! (This was my only gripe for not giving it 5 stars)

Clean room, easy check in process, Dinner was nice but the ice cream was terrible and ice like. I did say something as it was inedible but still paid £6 for the delight. The room was clean, however the curtain hooks came off in my hand, the bath room door did not shut well and got stuck often. Which a young child that’s really not okay. We ended up having to keep it open when he was in there. There’s no where to put spoons from making tea (seems minor but very annoying). The room is next to some sort of machine so there’s a noise all night. At 0630 there’s some sort of delivery which woke up my 6yo. Breakfast was nice, however not too child friendly. Overall I would eat here again, but would I stay. For this price no. The staff were friendly and nice this is not a reflection on them, but it’s just not worth the price I paid.
