My husband's mother lives in Albion so we travel to the area quite often. For a long time we stayed at this property when it was called Windsor Oaks but it became very run down so when the Super 8 was built, we switched to it. So when I saw that this property is now under new management, we decided to give it a try for a one night stay. Let's start with the bad. From the road, the motel looks like it's closed. Compared to the bright and welcoming Super 8 across the street, it looks like a spooky place. The parking lot was empty and in need of repair. When we pulled up, there was an old white van parked in front with a sketchy looking person inside. I was glad I was not alone. The outside definitely needs a lot of work to make it more inviting. We went in and were greeted by Ashok. Despite the deserted feeling of the place, he was friendly and welcoming. We got a room and drove over to park. At this point, we became unsure about staying because there was a guy sitting in the weedy lawn near the pool area. We decided to go in and see the room. Here's the good. The inside halls were definitely redone and are a step up from the old Windsor Oaks. The security doors were good. The room was clean and new. The shower was very good, the bed new and everything worked well. But the view was of a weedy courtyard that was a little unpleasant. No one comes to Grayville for a view but a nicely tended green area would be a plus--maybe a pollinator friendly garden could be put in. The breakfast area was very clean. The coffee was fresh and hot. I did notice that there were only packaged pastries available but that might be because I came for coffee about 8 am. I realize that the property is under renovation and I think they are on the right track. Keep up the good work! Please take this review in the spirit intended. We are happy to see something good going on in this area.
