My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights at the Saylu Hotel, which is outside of Granada city centre. Many hotels in the city centre were booked out for Semana Santa and the remaining hotels available did not have ensuite bedrooms so we booked to stay here. I am glad because staying close to the festivities in the city would have driven me crazy! Saylu Hotel was a 40 minute journey from the bus station using public transport and there is a bus, the S2, a short walk from the hotel, which brings you to the city centre in less than 20 minutes. The La Alhambra is a very short taxi drive away for a little under €8. The hotel is basic and a bit dated as mentioned in other reviews. It was, however, very clean. The receptionist and cleaning staff were all very friendly. A breakfast buffet is available at €4.50 / person and we enjoyed our breakfast and the amount of choice. Our bedroom did not have air conditioning or a fridge. The room did get very hot at night and my boyfriend did not want to sleep with the window open as there was too much noise from the motorway. I would suggest to guests coming in spring and certainly in the summer to insist that they get a room with AC and a fridge when making a booking. There is nothing much of interest in the area around the hotel, except for possibly the huge shopping centre. The hotel is much much cheaper during off peak seasons and I am sure the price is what makes it very attractive. For a budget hotel, it ticks all the boxes.
