Bluff House Inn

We had an excellent stay here in the cranberry room. It was a great place for kids and dogs. But nothing beats the view and the attention to detail from Don and his team. From booking to check out his communication was extremely helpful and his recommendations made our trip that much better. We will definitely be back.

An out of the way place with a great view overlooking Frenchman's Bay. An old rambling large 'rooming house' type place that's seen better days. Rumor has it that owners have it on the market, and they appear to be 'milking it' now - quite expensive for what you get, place needs lots of TLC, remote check-in, no one on staff at the place (owners were 'up the road'), limited breakfast wasn't available until after 8 AM (including coffee!!). Rooms quite small, bathroom small, beds OK, outlet pugs limited. If you want a quiet place with a view and not much else, and don't mind paying a lot, this is your place.

We stayed in one of the cabins with our fur babies, the accommodations were excellent. The cabin was clean and well appointed for our needs. The sunset views are amazing and the cabins location was close to the park and we enjoyed several hikes. The owners are wonderful hosts, and provided useful information throughout our stay. Highly recommend.

The best feature of the Bluff House Inn is its location on Frenchman Bay, and the views are absolutely stunning. It's convenient to the good restaurants in Winter Harbor and to the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia National Park. Our room was clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was tiny; a larger person would not have fit in the shower stall. We never met the owners; the only staff member we had contact with was the very pleasant young man who set up the (more than adequate) continental breakfast every day. We had looked forward to enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine on the balcony, but never were able to determine how to get a glass of wine onsite, so we brought some in (and certainly did enjoy our sunset views). But all in all we were glad we stayed there, and would stay there again if we get to return to the area.

We, a couple from Germany, had a wonderful time at the Bluff House Inn. We got there, because the inn near Acadia NP which we booked for several nights had no electricity and no running water because of a damage in a tropical storm. We were so happy that we could move to the Bluff House Inn and I think we even got the most beautiful room, the ocean view! Owners were very helpful and allowed us to check in already in the morning which we appreciated very much after a night without a working toilet. We loved the remote place and the wonderful views. Everything was so nice and easy! Breakfast was fresh and fine including the best scones we had in New England. Thank you very much again.

We feel very fortunate that we were able to book with Bluff House Inn for their Maple cabin for our honeymoon. These cabins and the lodges are adorable, comfortable, and simplistic to truly enjoy nature. We stopped in the main lodge once and loved seeing the inside. Our cabin was perfect for our honeymoon and busy days of hiking and exploring Acadia National Park. The smaller cabins have all you really need. The bed and sheets were insanely comfortable. The main window and the outdoor patio faced sunset so we enjoyed watching sunset each night and noticed several other cabins did too. There were 2 stools and a table with a coffee maker and mini fridge. The room came with a small space heater but it really did warm up the space if you’re prone to getting cold. The bathroom and towels were perfect! The owners are so sweet in communicating over email leading up to our stay with any questions, and their texts with recommendations on hikes, parking, exploring, and restaurants truly helped shape our day! We would love to come back someday!!!

Incredible property. We visited Acadia and loved this secluded, peaceful, beautiful property. About 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and an easy drive. We stayed in one of the new cabins. Very comfortable. Easy to text property owners. Breakfast and baked goods delicious. Highly recommend. If we revisit the area we will be staying here.

We just spent 3 nights in one of the cabins at the Bluff House Inn. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and immaculate. The owner and staff were caring and very helpful. The main inn is also very comfortable, and both the inn and cabins have an amazing view of the water. In addition, the bed was very comfortable! If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable getaway where you can sit on your private deck and listen to nature - this place is for you. We did not go to the continental breakfast but did enjoy a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie in the afternoon. We had a great time at the Inn and hope to return in the not to distant future. Our room was bright and cheerful, and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was good, although nothing fancy (except for the homemade baked goodies, which were terrific). The staff was friendly and helpful. I wondered whether the "pet friendly" vibe would be a problem, but it wasn't. People's dogs were friendly and not intrusive. I liked the fact that you drove down a long, gravel road to get here; when you arrive, you have a real sense that you have indeed gotten away from it all. However, the best reason for coming here is the view, which is incredible! There is an upstairs balcony and a large porch downstairs, both with comfortable seats for admiring the view.. Specifically, the sunsets can be remarkable. The building was designed to highlight the view. This is a quiet, beautiful inn on the quiet and beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. One practicality: If you arrive here on a Monday, you may find it hard to find a place to eat. There was nothing open when we arrived, at least nothing nearby (i.e., Winter Harbor). We finally found a small, unlikely looking market ("Mc's Market") in Birch Harbor that had a kitchen, where we were able to get a decent sub. (They had pizza, too.) Tuesday wasn't much better, although Chase's Restaurant was open then (Winter Harbor). If you're willing to drive a bit, you'll probably have better luck. After driving 5 hours to get here, we didn't want to do any more driving that day!
