Hummingbird Inn

Our first time staying at this beautiful Inn was 7 years ago and we absolutely loved Sandra, who is so welcoming, and the comfort we felt at the Inn. The multiple sitting rooms are so beautiful to enjoy tea, conversation, or cosy up with a blanket in front of a warm fire. Since then, we’ve talked about returning, and with our anniversary this month, everything fell into place to return. Our recent visit was just as wonderful as before. Sandra personalizes and put so much care into all the little details…names on a placeholder outside our room, a personal note written in an anniversary card with chocolates and candles, everything you could possible need for toiletries and even earplugs if the occasional train wakes you up. Breakfast is served at 9:00 around one family table, but coffee and scones are out by 7:00. We LOVE the gathering at the table and both visits have felt warm and inviting, walking away with a feeling of treasured connections. As Goshen is a small town in a beautiful setting, there is so much to do within a 30 minute drive…Lexington and Warm Springs (a beautiful small town and the Omni Homestead- a must do is the healing baths!). 1 hr away is the beautiful Falling Springs Falls, Humpback covered bridge, and the Greenbrier Resort.

My wife and I got engaged at the Hummingbird Inn back in June 2014. We found it online and knew it was the perfect place for a romantic and special occasion kinda weekend. Fast forward ten years later and here we are, back at the Hummingbird Inn celebrating our 10 year engagement anniversary. In the past ten years, we have traveled far and wide, to hotels, restaurants, national parks and overseas. We had no idea what to expect about the Hummingbird Inn after being to so many places since than. Once we arrived, the Hummingbird Inn was not only just as romantic as we remember, but even better than we remember. There is just something about this place that is so serene and peaceful; the details that go into every room and feature are spectacular. This by far is the best place to rekindle the fire with that special someone. As for the location, the inn is located in a small secluded mountain town with a nearby train that passes by once a day, which added to the quaint romantic atmosphere. You can easily explore the Shenandoah and come back to enjoy a nice bottle of wine on the deck or their newly designed gazebo, built by the owners themselves. The jetted tub in the Alleghany room is still one of the nicest tubs that we have ever had. The new owners, Sandra and Jeff, have done an amazing job at maintaining and adding to this beautiful bed and breakfast. Sandra, with a hospitality background, is a very bubbly, friendly and gracious host, giving you a list of things to do in the area. Jeff, with a carpentry background, maintains everything beautifully. Each of their breakfasts were delicious and super accommodating in terms of dietary restrictions. For instance, I wanted plant based meat instead of real meat and they accommodated that request. They even acknowledged our anniversary by giving us some complimentary soap that they sold exclusively at the inn. In addition to soap, they also provide the purchase of their linens, some of the best linens that you will ever experience. We are very thankful to have returned to our little piece of heaven after all these years. Thanks to Sandra and Jeff, our piece of romantic paradise still exists to this day and has many years to go. We plan to celebrate every milestone anniversary at the Hummingbird Inn…no matter what or where life takes us.

What a beautiful home away from home! Everything was in place to welcome guests and make them feel special. My room was very comfortable. I especially enjoyed all the books about Eleanor and FDR in the Eleanor room. As I was on my way to a stitch-in at another VA location, I could only stay one night. But I'll be back to explore the area more very soon!

Everything about the Hummingbird Inn was outstanding. From the moment we arrived Sandra greeted us and provided interesting details about the inn and its beautiful rooms. This inn has a great deal of history and the rooms have been preserved to reflect that with a decorative eye to detail and exquisite craftsmanship. The grounds are peaceful and there is plenty of outdoor space to relax in a garden setting. The room had extremely soft linens and anything you needed. Breakfast was delicious . Lots of little gestures like fresh cookies and candy dishes that made us feel welcome like we were visiting a friend. Definitely a excellent place to stay.

A very beautiful quaint location with all of the amenities. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, private room and the breakfast was delicious. We also ordered the charcuterie board to have when we arrived, and it was perfect for our dinner. Sandra made us feel right at home and was so gracious to show us around and fill us in on all of the history. We would love to go back.

10 of us celebrated my husband's 70th here. Sandra and Jeff were incredible hosts. We had some dietary restrictions and Sandra made egg free chocolate chip cookies and special breakfasts. Wonderful gazebo was a great for morning coffees d evening wine. A most memorable B&B.
