Leading Family Hotel & Resort Dachsteinkönig

We visited Dachsteinkonig in March 2025 with our 2.5 year old son and had a fantastic time. The resort is truly designed around children with so much thought put into the finer details, while also maintaining a level of luxury for adults. Everything in the resort is to such a high quality and is kept in pristine condition. All of the staff are so friendly and helpful, we really didn't want to leave! The range of facilities available is so vast even on rainy days we had plenty to do to keep ourselves occupied. The surrounding area is also beautiful with lots of walks and activities nearby, including the famous Hallstatt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended the resort to friends and family!

This was our third time at the hotel and we had another superb stay. Our children are 9 and 8 years old. We all really enjoyed the skiing (ski school was excellent), the food, the facilities (especially the swimming pool and the kids club) and the food. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for families.

Quite simply, this is probably the best family hotel in the world, and it is certainly my favourite hotel. They have thought of everything - and everything is delivered to perfection. Wonderful all-inclusive gourmet food and drink, friendly staff, naturally elegant spaces, and happy free-ranging children everywhere. Right next to a large and enjoyable ski area (mostly well-groomed red runs).

From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted with a sense of warmth and hospitality that made us feel instantly at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure our family's comfort and enjoyment throughout our stay. Spacious and Comfortable Rooms Our room was spacious, well-appointed, and designed with families in mind. The kids had plenty of space to spread out, and the comfortable beds ensured a restful night's sleep for everyone. The room was also clean and well-maintained, providing a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Delicious Food and Fun Activities The hotel offered a wide variety of dining options to cater to all tastes. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, with a plethora of delicious choices, including fresh fruits, pastries, cereals, and hot dishes. The kids especially loved the pancake station and the selection of kid-friendly meals. The hotel also provided a range of activities to keep children entertained. There was a dedicated kids' club with age-appropriate games and toys, a playground, and even a swimming pool. Our kids had a blast and were never bored. Impeccable Service The staff at the hotel were truly exceptional. They were always attentive to our needs, anticipating our requests, and going the extra mile to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They were genuinely friendly and interacted with our children, making them feel welcome and comfortable. A Special Touch One of the things that really impressed us was the hotel's attention to detail when it came to family-friendly amenities. They had everything from baby cribs and high chairs to children's books and toys. They even arranged a taxi for us when we checked out, making sure it had the appropriate number of car seats for our children. Overall Our stay at Dachsteinkonig was truly unforgettable. The hotel's family-friendly atmosphere, spacious rooms, delicious food, and exceptional service made it the perfect choice for our family vacation. We would highly recommend this hotel to any family looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. We cannot recommend Dachsteinkoenig highly enough. We have been lucky to stay at a lot of hotels that cater really well for kids. This is the first hotel that has felt designed and built around children, but cater for adults too – from the obvious aspects such as the waterslide (awesome!) and various childrens’ clubs and varied activity programmes for all ages, to the little touches like plastic cups in the bathrooms (rather than glass that can be easily dropped and smashed) and each bathroom having a sink for adults and a lower one for children. Of course it is noisier than other hotels and less adult-centric, but the clue is in the naming – it’s a KINDERhotel owned by FAMILux! The staff, to an absolute person, were fantastic and add so much to the hotel: all helpful, friendly, and ever present - without being intrusive – just cannot be faulted in any way. I could namedrop some, but that would be to suggest others were not great, but they all really were. The hotel itself is a great design. Apart from the last couple of days at the pool, we never felt crowded and hemmed in, there was always a space to sit or a quiet spot to take. And there are so many spaces for the kids to hang out if they want. The bedrooms are great too and we found of a good size – even staying for over a week. This is one of the first places where we have stayed where there is LOADS of storage space and hooks to hang coats on – something that perennially drives us mad with other hotels (budget or premium). The food is buffet (to note though, there IS an option of a la carte additionally if you want). However, we found the buffet menu both varied throughout the week and a very good quality – and there was very little feeling of the dining area being crowded, with very little jostling for food – mainly because there was always more coming. All three of us had SPA treatments, and all three of us came out very happy with the quality and professionalism of the team that treated us. A couple of words of warning. Because of the environmental accreditation, the bedrooms do not have air conditioning and the rooms can get very hot in Summer. The hotel does have fans available for when it gets hotter (only learnt this on leaving as had not raised previously) and while it caters for all ages, alot of the emphasis is, unsurprisingly, on the younger children. If, like us, you want a hotel that caters for the whole family and not treat catering for children as a ‘optional extra’, go go go. If you are looking for a hotel for adults that merely caters for children, I would personally still say go go go!

Beautiful hotel, facilities and surroundings with fantastic kids club. The only downside is that all meals are buffet style. The food is still excellent but we much prefer served plated meals as the Alpenrose Familux resort has. Having no alternative to buffet style meals is unfortunate.
