Gorkha Gaun Resort

This was an absolute gem between Pokhara and Kathmandu. Wonderful view of the Himalayas, gorgeous authentic huts, and recently renovated, clean lodgings. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke English and Nepali. Food was amazing. And the value was incredible. We stayed with 7 of us for less than $30/person food included. We will be back!

I wanted so much to rate this accommodation 5/5. The location is lovely and the staff are wonderful, in particular Jyoti who looked after us and took us on a tour of the village, Mr Keshar was delightful too. The views of the mountains are gorgeous when it is clear. Unfortunately after eating Chicken Chow Mein in the evening , and having a small sample of the Raksy millet alcohol; I became very unwell to the extent of not being able to eat breakfast . Things worsened when we reached our next destination and lasted for the rest of our holiday which was a special treat and very expensive. I think that the food was pre prepared as we were the only guests and maybe reheated. My food was not pleasant and the chicken tasted not tight and I should have said so, but as the only guests I felt unable to do this. I ate little of it as it was the worst Chow Mein I have ever had and oddly it was served with Tomato ketchup. My partner ate curry and this was fine. Because of poor food hygiene, my trip to Nepal was effectively ruined. This is totally unacceptable and this is the first time in decades of travelling around the world that this is has happened to me. I would not recommend this accommodation because of my experience and this is such a shame as I really loved the ethos of this business.

I stayed 3 nights with my family, we thoroughly enjoyed the place . Specially the warm Hospitality of the team. Food was simple and good. Great views. Comfortable Room. A great place to get away from the hustle-bustle and enjoy some Nepali rural living also explore the rich Gorkha History. Recommended.
