The Alamo Guest House

I absolutely loved everything about my five day stay at the Alamo Guesthouse. I booked the Alamo Suite with Park Views, which was luxuriously decorated with period furnishings, huge windows overlooking Kelvingrove Park, & a glorious freestanding bathtub. The room was large & comfortable, with historical charm & modern amenities. I was on the first floor and had no issues with noise; I slept soundly on that plush bed! Perfectly located in the west end, this lovely building is steps from the park, close to museums, food, gardens, the university, & all sorts of lovely wanders. I walked almost everywhere. The included breakfasts, served in a room where you are able to dine with other guests, are made to order from a well crafted a la carte menu. The bottomless plate of local Tunnock’s chocolates in the sitting room is the coolest touch! I even bought Tunnock’s coasters from their small gift shop as souvenirs! I booked an on site facial & massage at the downstairs spa, both of which were superb. The spa setting was dark, warm, & inviting, & the practitioner skilled & kind. The on site concierge was helpful & consistently went above & beyond. Before I even checked in, Alamo easily agreed to hold my luggage for three days (!) while I trekked up to Isle of Skye! No charge. They made everything so easy for me. I want to move in! It was absolutely one of the best experiences I’ve had in a half century of world travel. Fancy without being fussy. & although I splurged on the suite, the prices were more than reasonable. Thank you, Alamo! You made my first trip to Scotland an absolute dream. I cannot wait to come back & stay here again.

We had a wonderful overnight stay at this unique guest house. We met Tehmeenah who was an amazing host. She made us so welcome. Complimentary refreshments and tablet added the the second. The guest house is quirky in a good way and the style of decor has been lovingly restored. Our room suite had a bath in the bedroom! The bed was huge! The room was spotless and again some lovely features. Breakfast was lovely and given in lots of little portions! Like a meze breakfast. We loved it. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful historic hotel in a great location near the park and a block away from a wide variety of pubs and restaurants. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was large, spacious and luxurious. The dining room was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. I would highly recommend the Alamo House to anyone who plans on visiting Glasgow.

Loved my stay here. It’s close to everything, but far enough away to be peaceful. The hotel is charming and the staff was very friendly!

The room we had was stunning, just like the pictures, the furnishing and decor of the place is excellent. Good location too, staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was nice as well. Didn’t use the massage facilities so can’t comment on that.

We were impressed with the elegant decor, less so with the small basement bedroom and the tiny shower room. I'm 5'6" and my head touched the opposite wall when sitting on the lavatory. Some of the room fittings were faulty. Front of house was a very friendly, helpful young man, until I asked for a croissant at breakfast. He went through to the adjacent kitchen and berated me to the kitchen staff. I could hear every word of his bad use, he showed his true colours and revealed the lack of class behind the fancy facade. He said in a previous review,of me, he gave his apologies for "not matching my aesthetic". Quite condescending I think.
