Domaine de Pelican

We looked forward to a few days stay at this location while touring in our caravan. It appeared that some dining might be possible, with views over vineyards from our caravan. The reality was rather different. A barren pitch amongst pine trees without a view. A derelict path down a steep slope to a grubby toilet block without toilet paper, broken shelves in the showers and an impossible journey back with filled water barrels. There is no chemical toilet emptying point, instead you’re expected to tip your tank into a regular toilet with no rinsing facility. And no fine dining during our stay which was shorter than requested despite very obvious spare space. The owners appear to believe that people using leisure vehicles are second class citizens, who will be happy with third class facilities. To match the minimum standard expected by caravan/ motor home travellers, even on farm/ basic sites, requires a major rethink and a major upgrade. Such a pity because the farm is well placed.

Domaine de Pélican is een schitterend gelegen gastenverblijf (en wijndomein) in Gignac, vlakbij het Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Languedoc (met de grot van Clamouse) en charmante dorpjes zoals St Guilhem le Désert. Vriendelijke ontvangst, verzorgde kamers, en een leuk zwembad, met magnifieke vergezichten. Behalve enkele kleine ongemakken (geen airco in de kamers, veel wespen/insecten ...) hebben wij erg genoten van ons verblijf hier ! Zeker een aanrader voor wie deze prachtige streek wil verkennen en kennis wil maken met het Zuid-Franse plattelandsleven !

Mesdames, messieurs attention voici une pépite !! Un magnifique domaine viticole, un panorama d'exception, une région authentique, un terroir respecté. Tout cela couplé à un accueil chaleureux, aimable et professionnel. Solène, sa famille et Olivier son conjoint seront vous mettre à l'aise tout au long de votre séjour, profitez ! En résumé une escale indispensable si vous passez dans la région, n'hésitez pas !
